Don't expect Gastro but do expect fine home-cooked food at good-value prices. The service is pleasant and efficient - so perfect for families needing children to be fed quickly - and the Adnams beer is delicious. The pub's location is close to Southwold's beach so it couldn't really be better. Thank you to the team for looking after us during a very busy lunch time on New Year's Day. (Strongly recommend booking if you want to eat at the weekend or during the busy holidays).

Called into the Red Lion on a day out to Southwold wiith our Lab.
It's very welcoming, we enjoyed good beer, cosy atmosphere and very yummy homemade battered fish fingers in a bap, really tasty and very fresh.
It was quite busy but we hardly had to wait for our food.
I would have no hesitation in returning here, Henry our lab rated it as well as being very dog friendly.

We were two of 22 at the Blyth Valley Community Radio Christmas meal. Previous experience has left us with low expectations of group catering but the food (previously chosen from the special menu) was hot and plentiful; the service was good and friendly. There were enough vegetables to feed twice our number. The meal concluded with coffee and home-made mince pies, which were crumbly and delicious.

If I have a complaint it's that the gravy was very salty. That said, the Red Lion offers good unpretentious pub catering. We would certainly return.

We were a party of 8 chaps looking for somewhere nice to eat after a weekend shooting, The Red Lion was excellent, lively, good food, good choice of beer & wine and friendly staff, well worth the visit.
