We came across Southwold whilst ambling around late one afternoon. What a joy to find an old pier lovingly restored and maintained. Too often piers are just the home for tacky amusement arcades and cheap tat. The joy of this pier is not only the nice shops and lovely restaurants but the history left behind by the dedications and memorials all along the handrails.
As it was getting dark when we were there the pier was soon aglow with light which just added to the charm. Dont miss the wonderful water clock too!
