Owner description: If one picture on a postcard could sum up an idyllic English Seaside destination it would have to be Southwold Pier. Decked out across the sea in the picturesque coastal town of Southwold, this pillared walkway has a magnetic attraction and something for everyone to enjoy! There's so much to do a whole day can drift by while you walk the planks and explore this historic icon. Please note: Our opening times are weather permitting and therefore can change.

“The good old days”
Reviewed August 20, 2013

Southwold is still like stepping back in time. The pier is lovely on a sunny day, walking out along the wooden boards and watching the water clock is a reminder of the simpler pleasures in life. Punch and Judy are in attendance most weekends which adds to the nostalgia.
Chips and ice cream lovely on the beach from the cafe on the pier.
The alternative coin machines half way down the pier are a giggle.
Finally take a walk into the town for a turn back in time treat.

“Not for fans of traditional seaside piers”
Reviewed August 20, 2013

I've been a bit harsh in this rating as it's probably a great place for people who like expensive rather than cheap and cheerful holiday souvenirs. This summer I visited eight seaside piers in the UK and this is the only one I've ever been to that feels like a glorified wine bar aimed at 'ladies and gents that lunch' rather than a traditional family attraction. Southwold is not an easy place to visit on public transport and this was somewhat of a pilgrimage for me. I spent more of the hour I had to wait between buses on the pretty, but crowded little beach and queuing for the loo than I did on the pier. Very disappointing - but at least it's still there and contributing to the local economy rather than falling into the sea.

“New favourite place”
Reviewed August 20, 2013 via mobile

Southwold is my new favoutite place. The short beach was perfect for our son and I just loved the pier with the trinket shops and cafes along it. I really hope we make it back there one day for longer than a day. A really relaxing place. The beach huts were amazing.

“Ok”
Reviewed August 17, 2013

It was a dreary grey day which probably didn't help, but wasn't overly impressed , didn't like the amusement arcade, just not my cup f tea, lots of people on the pier so you could hardly move, a couple of trinkets shops and a few places to eat, my husband was impressed wth the pizza in one restaurant, and the under the pier show we thought was an actual show but were disappointed with what it actually was.
