Description: The Boardwalk Restaurant is a family-friendly restaurant serving delicious food all day from 10.00am. Many of the ingredients are locally sourced. Open everyday of the year except Christmas Day, we serve morning coffee and cakes from 10.00am, lunches from 11.30am through to the early part of the afternoon, cream teas are a speciality in the afternoon. In the summer months we do high tea for children from 5.30pm and then suppers all evening. The hours are slightly shorter in the autumn and winter months, please check our website for daily opening hours. Sit inside or enjoy sitting on the boards outside enjoying some of the finest views of Southwold. Fully licensed, there is no nicer place to have a pint of Adnams or a glass of wine, listening to the sound of the waves beneath your feet! Please note: our food service hours are 11.30am - 4pm, and 5pm - 8.30pm. These times are weather permitting and therefore can change.

“Lovely Little Find”
Reviewed October 1, 2013

We love Southwold & try to visit as often as we're able. Discovered this lovely little restaurant today. Lunch for two adults & an eight year old. We all had sandwiches. These were served on lovely fresh bread with plenty of filling. There was also a small salad & some crisps. All very nicely presented.
The restaurant is a prime location for lovely views of the beach & I love the decor.
The staff were incredibly friendly & very helpful in relation to what was available from the menu when my daughter asked.
Will definitely be returning.

“Poor food & service - do not waste your money!”
Reviewed September 21, 2013

We visited Southwold last week, so thought would visit the broadwalk restaurant from reading the reviews. Yes, looks nice from the outside and beautiful view of Southwold beech. But How disappointed we where, first we patiently waited to be served, waited nearly 20mins just for drinks! The restaurant was not even busy! We eventually where able to order, so ordered sole fish which was recommended to us by the waitress. When it finally came after another 20min wait, again how disappointed we where, the fish had near to no fish on it, just mainly bone, also was warm! We mentioned this to the waitress, she just said its how it comes, so we kindly asked to see the manger, he told us that where we complaining about the size, we said No, its just not good cut of fish and should not of been served, also warm. He just walked away, not interested!! Then without us even asking, the waitress gave us our bill! We where speechless, so I went up and said we cannot believe how you treat your customers and how you allow poor quality food to leave the kitchen, the manger just said 'that's your opinion, know please pay your bill', we said we would only pay to what we felt the meal was worth, and such a shame, a restaurant set in a beautiful place, is let down by a manger and staff! Please take our advise, if you want a good meal go to the Nelson or the swan. Really cannot understand how the broadway restaurant survives, it needs to be looked after by someone who loves food, people, and his Job, not the people we found working or managing it!!

“Enjoyable evening meal”
Reviewed September 17, 2013

Over the years I have often stopped at The Boardwalk for coffee or afternoon tea but this was our first evening meal there. We were advised to book for a Friday night - glad we did as the place was full. There was a real buzz about the place - great atmosphere and views. Service from the very young looking waiting staff was friendly and efficient. We both opted for fish dishes and were not disappointed - generous portions and nicely presented. With wine I did feel that the meal was a bit on the expensive side for what we had - but then you are really paying for the location.

“Great lunch in a great setting”
Reviewed September 14, 2013 via mobile

My friend and I visited for lunch for a celebration. We were not disappointed. The staff were very warm, friendly and helpful, our window table was great- lots of room for two, not crammed onto a tiny table.
We ordered pink bubbly, fish sharing platter (with a bit added from vegetarian platter with no fuss), some side orders. It was lovely and good quality fish. Our puddings were fabulous too.

We did arrive around 12.30 before the rush began, so were able to enjoy a good table and no queuing. We will definitely return.

“Lovely lunch”
Reviewed September 5, 2013

We had a lovely experience here. Kids felt welcome, reading books available which the kids loved and they are really helpful on allergies. We did go about half an hour before the true lunch rush and it was quiet and well organised. We didn't need to wait, in fact it was probably the nicest meal we had all week and we didn't have to wait ages for it. The kids scoffed theirs and everyone seemed to be pinching daddy's moules marinere. My risotto was lovely and gluten free which was nice. Overall a really lovely clean place, good service, great food and the facilities were lovely nd clean and well decorated.
