“Very poor quality expensive food served in a car park”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 10, 2013

Lunch was a ham and mustard in a smallish section of french bread and smoked haddock fish cakes. Quality was poor and portions small - appalling value for money.

The seating in the car park (not really a dining area and a member of staff reversed past us to get out) comprised mainly of metal tables and chairs which were well past their best. Generally it was unkempt and there was a used orange juice bottle under our table. When we asked for condiments we were told that they were behind a pile of boxes on a table in a corner (I was rather expecting the waitress to get them for me).

Overall this is not a restaurant, rather a sort of cafe. Avoid at all costs, its truly awful!

“out in southwold”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 5, 2013

we just fancy going somewhere to eat in southwold, we looked at some of the puds that all looked very much the same, although the food is all very much alike here, we just liked the look of this place, it was very busy, but we managed to get a table, the aspals was somewhat fizzy, and not the beat glass of aspals ive ever had, the food was fresh and tasty, and the staff were really friendly, the desserts on the other hand were somewhat on the small side and for nearly £6 would of liked a larger portion, it wasn't cheap but I didn't mind that as it was lovely and has a vibrant café feel to it which makes it different from the other places to eat in southwold, we will come again

“Excellent restaurant!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 30, 2013 via mobile

Very friendly and relaxed atmosphere, food is very tasty and well presented. Even though they were really busy managed to find a table for us.

This is a lovely family run restaurant that we would not hesitate to come back to next time we are in Southwold! Thank you

“Delightful restaurant in Southwold”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 29, 2013

My wife and I recently had a wonderful meal in The Blue Lighthouse. Booking is a must, which we failed to do, but we were handled so politely when we turned up on spec that we were happy to go for a wander until a table was ready for us. The food was excellent and very good value. The atmosphere was lovely and the staff were attentive and friendly.

“Professional staff, good food, so-so drinks”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 27, 2013 via mobile

We (two adults, one 4-year-old) had lunch at The Blue Lighthouse on a bank holiday Monday in May.

The food was very good, and not excessively priced. We were early for lunch (12.15) so perhaps I was first to comment, but the cooling system for the beer wasn't working properly so the draft lager was tepid. I was given a refund and offered a bottled beer from the fridge but that didn't seem to be working either! It was well handled though and otherwise we had a thoroughly pleasant meal. I would assume it was an isolated occurrence and visit again.
