I had a wonderful stay at The Old Vicarage, where I was immediately made to feel completely welcome and at home by Mr. and Mrs. Sheppard. This is a beautiful house set on peaceful, lovely grounds that proved to be as a great a base for a day trip to the coast as for a jog through the nearby villages. My en suite bedroom was comfortable, private and quiet, with a spacious bathroom and a long bath tub. Mrs. Sheppard's homemade muesli and jams made a terrific breakfast, and there are several cute local pubs in the area to choose from. I am already looking forward to my next visit!

We had a great weekend staying at the Old Vicarage in the middle of January 2013. The house looked lovely surrounded by a good few inches of snow and both our bedroom and bathroom were spacious and welcoming. Mr and Mrs Sheppard are fantastic hosts and our only complaint was that we didn't get snowed in and have to stay longer! Thanks again.

Nothing is too much trouble for Jane Sheppard - she is an attentive and amiable host who delights in the small touches than enhance your stay and is very welcoming and accommodating. The house which is an old vicarage is a delight with large rooms and beautiful views, set in 6 acres of gardens. My wife and I and a our friends all had a very relaxing and enjoyable stay. The Cock Inn in the village and the White Horse in a neighbouring village are both excellent pubs for good food at reasonable prices.

Rooms have tea and coffee making facilities and you have your own bathroom.

We would return definitely.

The Old Vicarage, Great Thurlow was just what was needed after a long journey from the north, we were greeted with a cup of tea before having a hot bath, off to the pub for a quick meal then a comfortable bed. Breakfast was excellent and set us up for the next part of our journey to the airport. Next time will stay longer and visit Newmarket (9 miles away) for the races. I am happy to reccomentdThe Old Vicarage to anyone who is looking for peace and quiet.
