“You get what you pay for”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 28, 2013

I am writing this about the restaurant only, I have not stayed here. The hotel is a well known and liked Felixstowe eating place in the heart of the town. If you are new to Felixstowe or haven't been for a while, considerable cash has been spent improving the town centre which is an excellent small shopping centre and improvements to the traditional bucket and spade beach are on going.

We ate at The Carvery. Here you choose between a selection of large joints, beef, pork or turkey, you can have a mixture, plus a sausage in bacon. The meat was absolutely delicious and hand carved for each customer, a meat lovers dream. The selection of vegetables however was only average, what you would expect from food hanging about in troughs for customers to help themselves. No way terrible but a roast potato however crispy when it came out of the oven is going to harden up in these circumstances. I was disappointed with the gravy. Considering the massive joints available, there would be scope for wonderful gravy but it tasted and looked as though it was made with granules, it was very salty. I may be wrong they could make it themselves but the meat is so good it deserves nicer gravy. The great selling point is the price, 2 for 1 working out at £6.50 per person. I have no quibbles at all for a hot roast lunch served in pleasant surroundings. Desserts are £4.50 extra a little expensive for small portions.
If you are in Felixstowe shopping or strolling the prom and want a hot filling meal you could not do better, For me personally, I would not make a special journey

We booked to stay here as going to the theatre and thought an over nighter would be just what we needed. We booked in and had a wonderful friendly lady who explained where everything was. Our room was nicely decorated, a lovely size, comfy bed and great size bathroom. Shame the bathroom wall hadn't been painted after repair works to it. This is the only complaint I could make. We had a quick snack in the bar at 6pm and enjoyed the sandwich platters immensely. After a good nights sleep, breakfast was just what we needed. We really enjoyed the quality of it and the friendly waiter was super. Top marks from us to all at the Brook Hotel.

Staff very polite and helpful, food very well prepared, excellent value. Downside unless you want to join in the bars festivities please don't stay in room 224, the noise was horrendous and spoilt the whole visit and had to return home to get some rest.

Room Tip: Do not stay in rooms above bar

Stayed for 2 nights...first night decided to eat in restaurant..had 2 x fish & chip meals for £11.95..best ever..served with fresh side salad & puddings for £4.50 ea..good value. So 2nd night also ate in for same price for 2 x delicious carveries. Had superior double room.where linen clean , plenty of hot water tho not the most modern. Downside. no clothes hangers in bathroom & no storage for toiletries , paying extra for breakfast @ £7.95 ea. with not the greatest selection of cereals , fruit etc. & having to choose only 5 items of cooked breakfast from list provided.
