When we moved here in 2010 they council had been awarded 2.5 million pounds of lottery money to renovate the gardens, they already looked very nice.
Work started earlier this year, plants and flowers were dig up, pathways destroyed and then work ground to a halt in time for the summer. We are left with what looks like a derelict wasteland with ugly iron fences blocking most of the pathways.
Combine this with the closure of the Spa Pavilion and we have what appears to be a once beautiful seaside resort that is in rapid decline.
Work was also promised on a new pier with modern facilities, that was going to be ready for next summer 2014, there is however NO evidence of any work in progress.

the gardens are set beside the beach, ranging from Victorian and Edwardian eras, undergoing a major facelift which has been put on hold due to arguments with the council so they look a mess at the moment, but a lovely place to sit, picnic, bbq, play games and relax if you don't want to get covered in sand.

These are so lovely kept really well. You can sit and look at the sea while having a spot of lunch. Well looked after all year round. Such a beautiful place to sit and relax.

The seafront gardens were one of the gems of Felixstowe. Having secured National Lottery Funding of some £2m to return them - and improve them - to their Edwardian splendour (they were pretty good anyway as they were before the work), the contractors engaged by Suffolk Coastal District Council pulled the plug on the project when they announced that replanting was not part of the contract. What? So, having ploughed everything up, they pulled out. Leaving Felixstowe with - er - not a seafront garden - but an unfinished project that has denied visitors and residents one of the nicest features of the town.

Heads should be rolling at Suffolk Coastal District Council procurement department for utterly mis-managing the contract. £2m for what? A rubbish tip. This is an utter scandal. The procurement department has rubbished one of the town's best features. But I bet the people concerned will keep theit job's at the council-tax payers' expense and retire on nice pensions, thank you very much.

The gardens, although in parts are in need of some refurbishment, are well kept and always well planted. I think the council do a good job of the upkeep, although obviously they must be struggling for cash. I'm pleased to see one section is being refurbished right now. The gardens are what remains of the more traditional resort of Felixstowe, unfortunately in my view, spoilt by many tacky amusement arcades and an absolutely awful funfair
