When we arrived at the hotel a smell assailed our nostrils as soon as we set foot in Reception. Think of the smell of stale cooking plus dirty towels and you will know what I mean. When we saw the state of our second floor bedroom we very nearly walked out and got a train home. The carpets were so dirty, we dare not walk about in bare feet. We even kept a pair of sandals handy to slip on, in case we had to pay a call in the night. The bath was dirty and the tiles around the shower were covered in black mould. Every time I had a shower I found myself hoping that I wouldn't contract a virulent form of Legionaire's Disease!
We decided that as we had paid hard earned money for the holiday we would stick it out and stay there for the week. We spent the least amount of time possible in the hotel as the level of cleanliness of the room reflected the cleanliness in the Lounges and the bars.
The food offered wasn't bad in a "frozen potatoes " sort of way but when you think " dirty hotel" you don't really enjoy eating there! The tour companies who use this hotel aught to be ashamed of themselves. There must be many complaints ???

Stayed evening 13/8/05. Booked at executive room which was a joke. Room above noisy bar (not mentioned) Breakfast was cold and looked like it had been standing all morning.

Hotel staff not interested when approached. Will not return.

Booked executive room, got shabby room, curtains dirty and did not draw. A lot of noise from bar underneath. Left without staying overnight, was assured no charge would be made. Money taken from my debit card. Refund promised but not received 2 weeks later.

I have stayed in hotels all over the world including Africa, US, Carribean, plus many others in Britian and Europe and this is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in - by a country mile. It was so bad it was almost funny.

Agree with another reviewer about being quoted one price via Laterooms and charged another.

Decor tired and colours gruesome. Layer after layer of paint has been slapped on over the previous one. Wiring in our room near the ancient tv looked suspect. Wind whistled thru the gaps in the windows. Bed uncomfortable. The whole place had a dirty, almost 'sticky' feeling. I felt cleaner before my shower than after it.

To add some balance the breakfast was quite good. We enjoyed it in a sort of shell shocked silence with the only other guest in the hotel.

If you really must stay in Felixstowe and the Marlborough is your only option my advice would be reconsider and sleep rough on the beach.

Booked rooms and agreed price on checking out, completley different prices quoted.

Rooms noisy above a bar and the tables in the restuarant have no leg room.

Try else where.

Room Tip: Als je tegen een beetje lawaai kunt van de boulevard beneden, is een zeezicht kamer het leukst.
