Stayed here in January this year to celebrate our (not wedding) anniversary. Lovely large room overlooking the green with a very comfy bed and lovely quaint bathroom with delightful toiletries. My partner had asked Bonnie, the proprietor, to arrange a bunch of flowers for me in our room upon arrival, which she did and they were beautiful. We stayed for two nights on a dinner, bed and breakfast deal which was a really excellent price for the standards we experienced. The food on both nights was nothing short of spectacular, truly delicious ingredients perfectly cooked. The hotel is very well placed for exploring and the owners are quite happy to recommend places of interest. The icing on the cake was that Rob proposed to me in the restaurant on the second night and I accepted. We're getting married in June and have already decided we will return to the George to celebrate our first anniversary. Thanks to Bonnie and Lewis for a lovely stay with absolutely outstanding food.

Room Tip: Room two is a large room, very quaint, with a lovely bathroom and a view overlooking the green.

The George is a beautiful restaurant with lovely rooms upstairs. We stayed in room 1 which was well decorated and the bed really comfortable - loads of extra touches, lovely shampoo and condition, really nice organic tea etc. old building which has all the original features with old beams and low ceilings. we arrived late at night to really warm and welcoming staff and they had also reserved us a table in the restaurant which was a lovely touch as we were starving and the restaurant was packed!!
The FOOD was amazing and we had such a relaxing stay. Will be back!

Room Tip: Room 1 is the second biggest in hotel and really lovely.

We stayed last minute due to business in Bury St Edmunds , booked online and received a very good rate. Great welcome and evening meal - breakfast was excellent. Despite being quite a distance from Bury we will use it again rather than stay in the more impersonal and generally more expensive hotels in St Edmunds. Very nice staff.

Room Tip: Both rooms very nice.

We stopped here for dinner having had a good recommendation. The village of Cavendish is quite charming and quaint essentially English. I had scallops followed by Guinea Fowl and rounding off with chocolate brownie and my husband had pigeon breast then Halibut & seafood linguine. WOW. Not one single complaint from either of us. All the food was cooked to perfection and the taste was amazing. Even the vegetables we're cooked perfectly. A lovely atmosphere, very pleasant service and spotlessly clean this is an absolute must visit for anyone. No one is harder to please than me (I run my own pub and expect very high standards as I keep) and I'm constantly disappointed. We will definatly return even though its 92 miles from home, however if it were nearer it would be a disaster on my waistband!
Next time I think we will book in and stay overnight to enjoy more of the delicious food on offer and I can't wait.

We have been eating here regularly over the last two years and the standard of food and service has always been outstanding. Highly recommend to everyone. There is such a good choice of food which is all from local suppliers.
