My wife and i visited The George in Feburary and raved about it. As promised we returned with six friends for our annual trip to Newmarket races. Im very pleased to say we all loved our stay there. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel very special. Nothing was too much trouble for the excellent staff there. All young, enthusiastic and very frendly. The place is spotless and as before the food lovely, always served hot and using the finest ingrediants . The menu was creative and cooked just to our liking. On both nights we stayed, the restaurant was fully booked and there was a nice atmosphere. Its obvious the word has got out and deservedly so. We are already planning our next trip there. Thanks to you all at The George.

Room Tip: We sayed in room 2. One of the largest. Very nice

We have never stayed at The George but are frequent (almost weekly sometimes) visitors to eat in the restaurant. It is a firm favourite for a meal with the kids or just for two, the atmosphere is always friendly with a good regular menu and excellent changing specials. Over the past year or so they have put even more creative attention into the menu and this has resulted in some notable successes (the slow cooked ox cheek and the candy floss dessert two name to memorable dishes!). This is not haute cuisine but all the better for it in our opinion: Good food, imaginatively created, presented excellently and sourced well. Staff are great and the building and location perfect in one of Suffolks prettiest villages.

We had two rooms at the George for us and our 3 children. The rooms were lovely, spacious and clean - and the jellybeans in the room were a lovely added extra! The beds were extremely comfortable, and the sheets were to die for! The service was very friendly and the children loved being there. The only downsides were the bathroom which was a bit tired (but very clean and light) and the breakfast which could do with a bit of tweaking (nothing serious, just overcooked fried eggs, late black pudding... - my husbands contribution to this review!) I certainly think it was value for money, and would stay there again whenever we pass through. Thanks!

6 of us stayed here for a week-end break, and we can truly recommend it as a base from which to enjoy the local area. The George has a great atmosphere with Bonnie as a hard working and charming hostess, and her young front of house team all eager to please and a credit to her. Lewis and his kitchen brigade serve amazing food, well cooked and beautifully presented, with a menu which should please any discerning diner. The restaurant is very busy so book in advance. The atmosphere was really welcoming and the bedrooms as good if not better than anywhere we have stayed. The team really deserve success and from we saw and received they will. The breakfasts, by the way, are delicious and freshly cooked to order and set you up for a walk in the Stour Valley! Thank you for an excellent week-end. Oh, and also enjoyed the Church bells, Cavendish is quite an idyllic village, however do visit Clare which is in walking distance.

Room Tip: Room 2, a twin, is huge, with character and overlooks the front, however not noisy at all.

We arrived on Thursday last and were impressed from the word go. Our room was lovely with quality bedding/furnishings (even down to the soap!) and fresh coffee in our rooms. With two friends we booked the bed and breakfast and evening meal option (for three nights) not realising then just what quality good food and service we would experience - every table was booked in the restaurant and we were not at all surprised once we had sampled the food . We dined from the a La Carte menu each evening and the consistent quality of the varied menu never faltered.

Bonnie and partner and her team will I am sure go from strength to strength - they are young, friendly, dynamic and obviously hardworking - they deserve to succeed. We will certainly re-visit Well done.
.

Room Tip: We stayed in rooms at the front of the hotel.
