“Anniversary Stay”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 22, 2013

We have just stayed at the Brome Grange to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We got married at Brome Grange 4 years ago and my husband booked for us to stay as a surprise in the Brome Suite which is the room we stayed in when we got married.

The room is excellent. Nice big comfy bed, double shower and huge hot-tub. My husband had ordered a bottle of champagne and chocolates and these were in the room on arrival.

We had dinner in the restaurant and the food was fantastic; especially the sticky toffee pudding which was divine. We also had breakfast this morning and that was also really good.

The staff were very friendly and attentive. My husband had informed them it was our anniversary but they were not aware that we had married at Brome Grange so this was not a case of special treatment.

We also sneaked a look through the barn window where we got married and it looks just as magical as it first did when I set eyes on it for the first time. It truly is a lovely venue for a wedding.

The hotel has big plans (extension and a spa) and whereas I can see that this will be good for the hotel I hope the charm of Brome Grange is still retained as it truly is a wonderful place.

We really enjoyed our stay and I look forward to staying at the hotel again.

We stayed here on a groupon deal for 2 nights and evening meal. We upgraded the first night to the bridal suite, which is very nice with a double shower and jacuzzi. We couldn't the second night as it was booked, sadly. We arrived straight from work and wanted a light snack. The receptionist apologised that they did not do snacks and pointed us to a pub a short walk from the hotel. That pub was closed! (Went again over the weekend. What an experience!!)
The evening meal was ok ish. I was disappointed with my Greek salad starter as it was just an onion salad with a few bits of feta thrown in. The restaurant was very warm and we were pestered by flies which is worrying! In the bar the young barman didn't know what cognac was!(not his fault)
Breakfast, they employ a lot of young people which is good but train them to serve. A gentleman next to us informed a waiter the jams bowl was empty the waiter instead of bringing jams etc to his table just informed him it was now stocked up. On the second morning I asked 3 times for toast and I still never got it. The full English is tiny and over cooked I would not pay £8! for it. The continental table was not re stocked and they had run out of pastries. People were queuing for the coffee as that had also run out. My husband had to share my cereal bowl as we were kept waiting for clean bowls. The signature breakfast which should have had nice soft poached eggs was overcooked! They were busy but this is basic stuff. The evening menu never changed which makes me think this chef is very limited. Would we go back? It was great for a groupon deal. The bridal suite was lovely. I would not eat there and they really need to organise the breakfast both training and quality of food.

2 day break throgh Groupon so very good value. The restaurant food was excellent with a reasonable choice, glad we were staying two nights so we could try a couple of the dishes. Breakfast was very nice too and staff were lovely.
The rooms were very clean but a little tired, fit for purpose!

We popped into the grange just out of curiosity really due to an abysmal stay at the Cornwallis across the rd, and low and behold there was Mr.perfect (Johnathan).
So we decided to do bed breakfast & dinner, food was great and finished off in the bar, room was of very good standard ( even though the original room we wanted got double booked ;-().
You can see the money invested and were it has gone and if their plans to expand go forth I feel it would feel less cramped, would be great if the had a spa/ swimming pool.
The English breakfast could have a little more on the plate (but that's just me being greedy).
Staff are very friendly and busy (good sign). would love to see this hotel grow as i think it has potential, re-booked under a group booking this time just before Christmas as rooms are being snapped up. This time the bridal suite should be ours.
Also they are dog friendly which earns them a gold star as we will recommend to our doggy mates.
Overall a great stay, Johnathan is a great host ( Brilliant sense of humor) the staff are all brilliant and cant do enough for you, this hotel will go along way especially if they expand ther building plans.
Well worth a visit.

Room Tip: All outer stable rooms are finished to a very good standard and are most likely the quieter, but ye...

room was very good and backed onto the overspill car park.a great shame the internet did not work in the room, we felt in the way of either the bar or the restaurant using it in the hotel. the evening meal was good and so was the ample breakfast, unfortunately the restaurant was pestered with flies which spoiled the evening and breakfast. the second breakfast out of our three was just toast as the chef was off ill. surely a hotel with such a reputation could have found a way to cook bacon & eggs or beans on toast. A bottle of fizzy was put in our room as an apology but to a none drinker this was a waste and did not make up to the loss of breakfast. we found it easy to drive to Diss to get a bus into Norwich and it wasn't far from NT and EH properties. just the flies would put us off eating there, the room was good value for money. no flies in the bedroom!

Room Tip: can only speak for the rooms at the back by the overspill carpark.

We were booked in for a Groupon on the Tuesday but a last minute call (Mon), from the owner re a room problem, water ingress apparently, caused us to move to the Wednesday,as the Cornwallis, the other local hotel, had no vacancies. We were taken to our room in the "motel" part of the grounds and it was a good size with TWO armchairs! Dinner was very good value and as we had had a trying day with my Wife's relatives, ordered a bottle of Cloudy Bay for £38 as a treat. It was £60 at our previous hotel so obviously the owner prices sensibly. He was also good humoured, after a substantial breakfast the next morning, whilst attempting to use an old sliding credit card processor as the 'phone line was down and my "witty" banter must have been tiresome!
Staff were polite and efficient and we will go again.

Room Tip: Room six is a chalet room away from the main road and within ten metres of your parked car,as are mo...

Booked this hotel through a Groupon voucher. We stayed in room 6 which was a good size, comfortable and very clean. The weather was cold and raining when we arrived and the room felt quite chilly, but once we turned on the radiator and the towel rail in the bathroom, it was lovely and cosy. Evening meal on first night came as part of the deal, and the quality and quantity was very good. Had a bar meal on the second night and that was also very good value for money. Breakfasts were good and all the meals we had were piping hot. The staff were excellent. Every single one of them was so polite, friendly and went out of their way to make sure you enjoyed your stay. Have to give special mention to Naomi on reception, she was a little star.

Room Tip: Our room was at end of courtyard and overlooked the paddock at the back, so we had no road noise.
