“Short 2 Night Break”
Reviewed January 22, 2013

I have just returned from 2 nights in this wonderful Hotel on the ever beautiful North Norfolk Coast. Booked our stay through a Groupon offer and were not disappointed by any aspect of the stay. We were welcomed warmly and shown to a room near to reception as requested, due to partners walking difficulties. It was large with modern oak furniture including a 4 poster bed. A 3 course dinner was included on the 1st night but we could only manage 2 as the food is to die for. The mussles were freshly caught, the beef cooked to perfection and I had Briarfields variation of Scotcheggs, wonderful. Although only a few guests due to the weather the staff looked after us as if we were staying in their own homes. After a days drive along the coast we decided to eat in the hotel again the next night and again were not disappointed. If you ever want anywhere to stop just for a meal do use Briarfields you will not leave disappointed or hungary. Cannot recommend this hotel highly enough.

Having been bitterly disappointed in the past by places offering to take dogs but clearly thinking that because I had a dog I liked to "slum" it I was nervous about this place. I shouldn't have been concerned at all. They will only take dogs in the most basic room and these have laminate floors instead of carpet. The room itself was fab - clean- modern - with all that you need (inc tea & coffee). The bathroom was lovely and clean with a 'b' shaped bath with shower over that had amazing water pressure! They supplied a large dog blanket, poo bags and a couple of chews. The main building was full of cosy corners, slouchy Sofa's, open fire's and a feeling of general cosiness. The dog was allowed everywhere except the restaurant and the staff were more than helpful. Last but not least the food; A-maz-ing! Out of this world - best steak I ever had! Specials menu changed daily too. Breakfast was ok, not in the same league but still very nice. I would definitely come back here. I imagine the upgraded rooms are just amazing. If I could say anything negative it would only be that there was a very small Matt on inside of room door and in bad weather with a dog this wasn't practical, luckily we took plenty of doggy towels so not too bad. Also couldn't find a poo bin? Obviously these are dog owner issues only and really very minor but worth a mention. I would definitely go back and I can imagine a wedding here would be awesome. We visited mid January so very quiet but very extreme weather conditions. Views of the sea and only a short drive to nice neighbouring villages. There was also a very nice farm shop / cafe just up the road where we stopped for a rather nice hot chocolate!

Room Tip: The most basic rooms are ample but compact - upgrade for added space if staying for more than a nigh...

Dear Madam,

Many thanks for taking the time to post your review on trip advisor.

I am delighted to read you enjoyed your stay with us at Briarfields so much, finding the food amazing, and your bedroom, the public areas and service all to meet your requirements.

We are proud to be a dog-friendly Hotel, and agree that you should not feel as though you are slumming it due to having your pet with you. There is a field that we own adjacent to the Hotel that we encourage guests to make use of to walk their dogs, as well as a bin nearby, but we have noted your comments regarding a dedicated dog waste bin.

I have made our staff aware of your positive feedback, it is great motivation for the whole team to keep up their hard work.

Thanks again for your review, and we hope to welcome you to Briarfields again in the future.

Kind regards,
Bradley.

We have stayed several times at this charming North Norfolk hotel, and despite snow, ice and extremely low temperatures the welcome was warm. The staff as ever were very attentitive and we felt very welcome, dinner is always a highlight and the food once more did not dissapoint, some excellent meals.

We stayed on a Friday night for my husbands birthday along with our two dogs. The hotel and location are fantastic. The food was amazing and the staff couldn't have been more helpful, polite and accommodating. They offered us a table in the bar for dinner so we could take the dogs with us. Dinner was amazing and wine well priced upon seeing the wine list. Service was a bit slow but as we weren't in any hurry this didn't bother us at all. All 4 of us had a fantastic nights sleep and breakfast was very good. Great value for money, lovely hotel, brilliant staff and fantastic food. We'll definitely be heading back!!

decided to stop here as going to a wedding at titchwell manor down the road and this was quite a lot cheaper. Lovely room very plush. Bed very comfortable. lovely bath. open fire very cosy. Beautiful decor. Very friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast not bad but had a lot better. Scrambled egg was a bit dry and tasted a bit too seasoned. Would love to stop again as such a nice area to explore.

Room Tip: all rooms looked good
