“A RSPB bird reserve”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 6, 2014

This bird reserve must be the best on the North Norfolk coast, it has so many different habitats to view, from the shore to the woodland & wetland areas. We have been visiting this reserve since 1979 & seen it progress over the years. Keep it up RSPB.

“Brilliant bird watching”

Great reserve - reeds, woodland, lagoons, sea - lots of different habitats and lots to see. Great bird hides and friendly, knowledgeable wardens.

“Civilized birdwatching”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 31, 2014

We enjoyed a couple of half-days at Titchwell during a short break at Wells, and they were very rewarding because of the number, the variety and the proximity of the birds. Free parking for RSPB members - leave your membership card on the dashboard. Loos in car park - Ladies, beware: this means a bit of a hike if you need the facilities.( Please, RSPB, a portaloo or some other primitive loo half way round would be such a help!).
Good visitor centre and cafe - much appreciated on a cold, windy day. But it's the birds you come for, and the salt and freshwater lagoons, which had taken such a beating during the recent floods, showed how much work the staff and volunteers must have put in. Some tracks were closed but there was more than enough to keep visitors happy. The birds clearly appreciated it, anyway. We were lucky and saw the Marsh Harriers, as well as a huge array of waders, and we found a very kind and helpful RSPB volunteer, with a powerful 'scope, who showed us how to recognise some of the more easily confused birds in their winter plumage. Being there in early Spring meant that we caught the migrants as well as the residents. You don't need to be an expert r to have a fun time here, and it is the sort of place that could convert someone into a keen birdwatcher.

“Almost back to its best!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 22, 2014

Visited Titchwell after a break of several months following the December storm surge.

The team have done a great job in restoring the footpaths and clearing up the debris from the surge. Bird life is nearly back to normal and we recorded nearly 50 species in about two hours there. The paths and hides are all back in operation and we walked down to the beach which does look quite different now that many of the dunes have been washed way or flattened.

Staff at the reserve are as ever helpful and knowledgeable. An enjoyable visit and we will look forward to returning again during this year.
