“Bird watching paradise”
Reviewed March 20, 2014

This is a fantastic RSPB reserve. Cheap to get into, and in Spring and Autumn a perfect site to watch migratory and resident birds. If you are a birder, then you will know the site. If you are looking for a half day out, visit the reserve, bring your binoculars, or hire some from the shop. There is usually a knowledgable volunteer in the Hides to help identify birds on the reserve.

“such enthusiasm...”
Reviewed March 19, 2014

We're interested in birds- to the extent that when we heard a strange cry while on holiday in North Devon but couldn't zoom in sufficiently to identify the source- and the girl sitting next to us on the beach could show me the photo she had just taken and I could identify it as an oystercatcher- that I went out and bought a new camera with much greater zoomability. Then we visited Titchwell! Rank Amateur! We had popped in to the centre the evening before, just to suss it out. Such helpful staff, so enthusiastic! We explained we would be coming back on the morrow so they showed us the large map of the site, explained the fen, reed bed and lagoon and saltwater areas and the route out to the beach and we learned that there was no entry fee as the marshes are 'public land'
We felt totally underequipped!! Camera, yes; binoculars too but the real enthusiasts were there in droves, tripods strapped to their backs, lenses that seemed to go on for ever and happy to discuss what they were watching out for and the subtle differences between a blacktailed godwit and the bar-tailed variety.
OK so there is a £5 parking charge [free to RSPB members] but there's a very reasonable cafe with an outside seating area that's humming with birdsand an excellent shop and everywhere seems to be wheelchair accessible and it is attractive day out for the whole family-- at whatever level your ethusiasm and expertise.

“Vast beach”
Reviewed February 27, 2014

This is a well organised and laid out reserve. Board walks and paths lead towards the coast past fresh water, brackish water and tidal lagoons, eventually reaching an enormous sandy beach. There is an RSPB shop with the usual types of souvenirs, and some excellent equipment in case you want to upgrade. There are a few picnic benches inside the woodland, inland from the reserve.

“Great day out”
Reviewed February 26, 2014

It is lovely to wander around Titchwell Marsh. I felt a little under dressed though as most people in camouflage outfits, waterproofs and carrying big cameras or binoculars. Parking quite expensive but cafe cheap. Friendly staff.

Reviewed February 20, 2014

On our first Winter visit to this area, we were delighted with our morning at Titchwell Marsh. Lovely staff who were increbibly helpful especially as we had left our binoculars at home! Walks were lovely, hides to watch birds clean. Would definately visit again.
