“A wonderful weekend, and the dog came too.....”
Reviewed March 27, 2012

We had a wonderful weekend and our dog Bertie was able to come with us into the bar and almost all areas.
We had a room in the herb garden area which was very comfortable and warm. Lovely crisp sheets and fluffy towels.
There was a dog bed and biscuits, with a useful map of the area for dog walks.

I only wish there had been a table cloths in the eating room.
Thank you

We've tried a lot of different hotels around the Hunstanton/Wells area of North West Norfolk and this is our favourite. We visit 2-3 times a year mostly with our two dogs who are welcomed with their own towels, beds and treats!! We usually get a lovely room around the Herb Garden (27,28,29) but on our last visit last month stayed in room 8 across from the conservatory. It was very convenient for the main building but was carpeted so not as practical with dogs, although it was a slightly bigger room and had a lovely sofa (as well as an extra bed which we didn't need).

The breakfasts at this hotel are WONDERFUL with an amazing selection of hot meals. We haven't tried the very popular Taster menu in the evenings but the A-la Carte is excellent. My only suggestion is a bit more variety for people staying more than one night.

Room Tip: Herb garden rooms are lovely and quiet.

My friend and I booked a two night stay at this wonderful hotel which is in a beautiful location overlooking coastal sea views. The staff were efficient, friendly and helpful making us feel welcome and relaxed immediately. Afternoon tea was special and unusual and a lovely start to an unforgettable experience. The flavours and textures of the food we enjoyed at the seven course taster meal were unique and delicious and breakfast was superb. Our twin lodge room located around the lovely herb garden was spacious, comfortable and scrupulously clean with a charmingly rustic feel. Congratulations to the owners for their obvious attention to detail and high standards of excellence in creating the perfect environment for a relaxing and enjoyable break with the 'wow' factor for their guests.

We booked Saturday night as a treat following the success of our last visit. This time we stayed in the Herb Garden (Oregano or room 23) the room was large, well decorated with the most enormous giant super king sized bed, and was decorated to a high standard. The bathroom had a wet room shower arrangement with beautiful "crazy paving" type flooring. The room had french doors leading to its own outside table, 2 chairs and a couple of sun lounger chairs all screened perfectly to ensure privacy allowing for a perfect setting to take in the sun, view and of course the wine! The view was overlooking some typically flat landscape and I believe was a field of some kind stretching as far as the eye could see. Most relaxing!

We had booked for the taster menu as before and found out that there were a couple of new dishes on for the first time. We had a large glass of Shiraz and a Malbec from the choice of wines as pre dinner drinks and ended up choosing a slightly higher priced Shiraz to have with dinner. We were offered 3 "amuse bouche" which were delightfully. I think one was a carrot gispatchio bubble which exploded in the mouth! At the table we were given a Mohito foam as a palate cleanser followed by the bread course. We then worked our way through the seven course taster menu and the highlights for me started with the Scallop Tartare which I believe had been suveed at 57 degrees if my memory serves me right. I would never have thought that Scallop, Granny Smiths, mayonnaise, truffle, and Kohlrabi would work in a million years. How wrong was I!

Another highlight was the perfectly cooked Pollock fillet with wild garlic, almond and an amazing salt Pollock deep fried kind of pastry covered ball. After the fish course cam the most amazing 80, yes 80 day aged Aberdeen Angus Sirloin with the most delightful crushed Jersey royals in a filo pastry tube. A cheese course, Yorkshire rhubarb and Chocolate course followed. I have read so many reviews stating "this was expensive, that was costly" etc, etc, but one pays for the experience in my view, and it don't get better than this!

Eric Snaith the head chef spoke to us in the lounge after the meal and if I am honest he should have had a Michelin star by now. Eric is an accomplished individual who clearly shows passion and dedication. The forethought and planning required to execute the meal my wife and I had just eaten must take days or even weeks to get it right. It with nothing less than a high class and perfect dining experience.

Everyone at the Titchwell Manor are friendly, knowledgeable and professional. From Susan at reception, the various bar staff and the delightful "Kiwi" waitress who has served us on two occasions now. I cannot recommend highly enough!

We are planning our next break to Titchweell already, I think a few midweek days now the summer is on its way is a must! Can't wait.

We booked a one night stay with Travel Zoo. This included afternoon tea - canapes in evening - taster menu and bed/breakfast in a dog friendly room(bed/towel and complimentary biscuits included for Barley) around the herb garden. The food was superb, and the staff very efficient but friendly and relaxed. Walks on the nearby beach were fun. We have always loved Norfolk and this stay proved our best ever yet.

Our second visit to Titchwell Manor and we were not disappointed. On this occasion we had booked with a Travelzoo offer giving us 2 nights B and B, one night’s dinner (with the 7 course tasting menu) and afternoon tea. We had a standard room around the herb garden – smaller than on our previous visit but still very roomy, tastefully decorated and very comfortable. They really have their rooms off to a T. On our previous visit we had enjoyed the food. This time I loved it. Everything was beautifully cooked and presented. The selection at breakfast was excellent (try the marmalade granola) and the 7 course taster menu delicious with really interesting combinations of flavours. Only the fish course was, to my taste, a bit bland. On our second night we ate in the bar – simpler food but still excellently cooked. Recommend the guided walk at the RSPB reserve over the road – despite howling wind and heavy rain it was fascinating and afternoon tea in front of a roaring fire back at the hotel rounded it off perfectly.
