A good nights sleep in this friendly place. It has its own bar & restaurant so you don't have to go out looking for something to eat when all you want to do is eat & go to bed. had to leave before breakfast so they made me a sandwich to go, good idea!. Dinner was good but a bit too big for little me. My room, although very small, had everything I needed. I would definately stay again when I need a to stop in the area. lovely people, Thank you

4 of us just stayed the weekend at the Horse & Groom.......... & after reading reviews before booking we were a bit dubious!! BUT what a pleasant surprise, we found the rooms very clean & comfortable (tea coffee millk & kettle in rooms), the meals we had where really really tasty & good value. This is a traditional old English pub & a good one at that, the rooms are not going to be 'square boxes' - if thats what you want go to a 'hotel chain'!!
Only one thing else - they do need a door bell for when pub is closed !!!

As soon as we walked through the door we felt welcomed, the whole building is quaint with its low ceilings akin to all cottage properties. The landlady and her husband are very friendly and could not do enough for us. The rooms are very comfortable and VERY clean, the breakfast was fantastic, my teenage son was very impressed (which is very hard to do !!). The service was excellent, we will be returning under happier times as we were in Swaffham for a funeral. Swaffham is a small market town surrounded by beautiful countryside and buildings perfect for getting away from it all, as we have visited before.

We decided to stay at the horse and groom for two nights as we need to be near by for a funeral,we left after the first night as after 6 in the evening the area becomes a ghost town.the lady that runs it is nice and chatty, and that's about it.there is nothing great about this place, but also nothing bad about either,if you want something cheap, comfortable and clean than this ideal.

My husband and I stayed over for a birthday do, along with quite a few others. We were lucky to get a room in the main building and as it didn't look much from the outside, I did wonder what we were going to end up with. Well, what a lovely surprise! Fabulous double room with modern and very clean en-suite, telly etc. It was quirky and had sloping floors but that's all part of the charm.

The staff were incredibly friendly and we had dinner and breakfast there too - great food (and we are pretty picky, I can assure you!).

Highly recommended.

We came for a friend's wedding & as all the rooms had been booked we were offered the cottage across the road & it was perfect. The cottage was spotlessly clean & was kitted out with everything we needed. We were able to pay seperately for a full english breakfast & it was delicious. We were very impressed with the food when we went for an evening meal & all the staff were really friendly. The cottage is a really good idea when there's a few of you as not only does it work out cheaper but you have privacy & come & go when you please. Would recommend this place & if we're ever down in Swaffham again we'll definately book there again!

Room Tip: A typical old cottage so tall people need to remember to duck through the door ways!!
