Tuesday 9th July 2013 we arrived at Holt station and paid £11 per adult to travel from Holt - Sheringham (or vice versa). Tickets allow you to travel on the trains as many times as you like during the day. The scenery between the two destinations is beautiful and we arrived at Sheringham station 25 minutes later. Had a cuppa in the station cafe but wouldn't recommend it as the female server wasn't the happiest in her job and just a 1 minute walk from the station you're spoilt for choice of places to drink & eat. Our outward journey was via a steam engine (special event week) and returning we were pulled by a diesel. Be warned though... the last train wasn't as per the timetable so we were lucky to catch it, I think there may have been a few annoyed travellers caught out who didn't realise that the last train back from Sheringham was 30 minutes earlier than advertised.

A bit pricey given its only a 24 minute ride but a frequent service and nice way to get into Sheringham by parking in Holt

Hubby, dog and I visited Sheringham for the day.
It is a beautiful sea-side resort, unspoilt with shops and some good eatery's.

We had Fish & Chips, whilst watching the sun-set by the sea, (simple pleasures of life.)

For a bit of nostalgia go on the steam train, the platform itself is maintained and well worth a visit.

A huge Sunday Market, guess which day it's on, so as you can grab a bargain.

If you are holidaying in Norfolk, give Sheringham a try, I hope this helps.

A huge amount of care has gone into tis heritage railway. The stations are lovingly restored. Even the tickets were those hard cardboard rectangles so beloved of old BR days. We travelled from Sheringham to Holt on the quad set. It is a 1924 set of carriages refurbished with Lottery money at the cost of £500,000. Very good.
