“NOT a hotel!”
Reviewed July 1, 2014

Bridget is a very welcoming and warm Manager here at this establishment. We were a group on an anniversary visit to the hotel since working there 40 years ago. Then it was a 24 bedroom hotel. Now it is a 6 bedroom B&B. This only manifested itself on our second night when, after the bar had closed to 'the public' we were declined a further drink as the establishment 'did not have a residents license'. We were obviously disappointed not just with the fact but with the way it was articulated to us. Our room was fine (Room 2), apart from having no hot water at the sink for the entirety of our stay (3 nights), and despite raising it with the housekeeper. The bar is a very welcoming and cosy environment and serves a good selection of well kept, well priced ales. The breakfasts were superb with a wide choice of juices, cereals and an all encompassing 'full English'. Overall, a very satisfying stay with small points needing attention.

Room Tip: We were in Room 2 which has side views of the sea. It faces the road so if traffic noise disturbs yo...

On a wet, blustery and unwelcoming June Tuesday it was a delight to walk into The Two
Lifeboats for a warm and hospitable early afternoon lunch. The ambience is nice; great views
from the bar over the North Norfolk coast, and a friendly and efficient server.
Sadly, having walked past (at least) two artisan, local, high street butchers on the way down from the station,
they could only muster "plastic" ham from a packet for the otherwise good value ham, eggs and chips special. Why? Hence the marking down. There are rooms apparently, but I am unable to comment. I am like General MacArthur - "I will return" - this is a nice feel place in a lovely old town. But get your home produced breaded ham from the butchers guys!!

We came here for a short two night stay to meet up with friends. The room was comfortable and clean and had a lovely view over the beach and North Sea. We were met by friendly staff who carried out suitcase to our room up the very steep staircase. We stayed on Wednesday and Thursday nights and slept well we certainly were not disturbed by any noise from the bar below.

The breakfasts were huge and well cooked and we were very well looked after by Bridget. She and all the staff were friendly and helpful and would have no hesitation in returning next year.

We have just returned from a weeks break staying in a beautiful house in Weybourne and during our time there have experienced various restaurants and tea rooms in the area and been most pleased with our choices up until the visit to the Two Lifeboats.
We went here for dinner on the last night of our holiday and it was without doubt not only the worst meal we had during our entire trip, it is probably one of the worst dining experiences we have ever had. The food was simply awful and most of it was still on the plates when the waitress cleared the table, she was clearly none too bothered when we said how disgusted we were with this rubbish we were served.
Please save your money and avoid your disappointment and eat elsewhere, we would not eat here again even if the meals were free and they paid us to come in and am extremely annoyed the last night of our trip was such a disaster, truly disgusting, no other words to describe it without swearing.

Hi, I am sorry that you had a bad experience.
This never happens at The Two Lifeboats, Sheringham.
There is another place with a very similar name nearby which has changed hands following an administration order.

Lovely clean, spacious, modern room with all the items you'll need for the every day modern traveller. Food is delicious both in the evening and morning with speedy service and locally sourced ingredients. Owners accommodating to your needs including letting me have an early breakfast so I could set off early. Especially loved my sea view! Can't wait to return - would say this is the best single room I've ever stayed in.

We have been here for Sunday lunch a few times now and have consistently good wholesome food. It's so good to find that each time you eat here it is as good as before. Lovely roast lunch with seasonal veg and good thick slices of succulent meat. £8.95 for a good plateful. We took friends who were also impressed. We live locally so don't stay there and cannot review bedrooms.

My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights with 2 friends for my birthday weekend. When we arrived on the Friday afternoon we were met by a delightful, friendly young lady called Pip who showed us to our room, and even offered to carry our luggage. She was extremely helpful, pointing out the private balcony for my husband who is a smoker, and explaining the various exits and entrances, breakfast times etc. Our room was tidy, clean and nicely decorated, with everything we needed for an enjoyable weekend. The beds were extremely comfortable, and we enjoyed a great nights sleep. There was even a champagne bucked in our room, which we did use for a champagne breakfast the following morning, my birthday. There was a young man called Dan who worked behind the bar, who was also extremely friendly, charming and helpful - he even wished me a Happy Birthday and wished me a lovely day. The breakfasts were lovely and plentiful, with much to choose from. All in all, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and it was made even more special by the wonderful staff. It really makes such a difference to see a friendly, smiling face, and it was very much appreciated - Thank You
