Stayed for three nights, Bed and Breakfast included--Dont expect any bargain breaks but what you get will be top class. It stands alongside the Coast road opposite Morston Quay. The Staff told us it was too hot for ties ,although it could feel just a little bit as though you should ,as expected some did ,but the dress code for the majority was at the least smart casual. The food was about 6 courses all different and equally delicious. The Menu is set but it is possible you can have something different ,if a course does not suit you, it didnt seem to be a problem. We stayed in a building at the end of the garden with a 100 mtr walk alongside flowers and bushes to the main Hotel--The Bedroom was large, comfortable and modern if you dont mind paying for quality then you will enjoy every moment. The staff were friendly and very helpful. Here you will stay dine and be treated as someone special ,you will one of the very few if you are disappointed.

Room Tip: Seem to be all nice rooms ,we preffered the Garden rooms away fom any noise, but a little more expen...

Went to Morston Hall to celebrate my birthday. Initially concerned about a menu with no choice bu needn't have worried. The whole evening was agreat success. Food was outstanding, the ambiance delightful and the care and attention of the staff top notch. Even the "Wine of the Month" - red in my case - was very reasonably priced and of high quality.
Totally recommended and I can't wait for a return visit

Room Tip: Don't worry it'll be great

Wonderful place - and wonderful food (generally) but - if only a few details were sorted.
We have eaten here several times so when my 60th birthday hove on the horizon my husband booked to stay overnight as well as a treat.
We thought we would have an afternoon tea on arrival - but no - we were told we should have booked that when we book the room! Really - not what you would expect from such an applauded place. After a quick bit of begging we were allowed 'cake' which turned out to be some wonderful fresh scones and cream and jam. We enjoyed this in the garden (rather unkempt) despite the bird droppings on the outside tables. We were surprised to see afternoon tea being served to several non-residents in a conservatory - i take it that the addition of two more would have brought the kitchens to a standstill.
The bird droppings theme continued on our small private terrace on the ground floor. Planters had been freshly filled with flowers but the bird droppings on the seats and table had not been cleaned - so despite it being a wonderful day we didn't feel this could be used.
The room was large and 'well-appointed' but a couple of little things could have so made it better. No light over/near the dressing table, a dressing table mirror which would not stay tilted (but we found a used for the gideon bible!) a television which could only be watched from the bed - not the armchairs, and a long mirror which could not be used unless you moved the furniture. And do the bins really have to be pulled across the gravel just outside the guests room at 1.15am?t
Dinner was wonderful (even if the cod in spelt batter was overcooked) and the dinning room setting with adjoining conservatory is lovely.
Breakfast was a delight - even if the toast was a bit late and strange.
It is sad given the gastronomic desert which North Norfolk now is that Morston should fall over such thing which your bog standard Holiday Inn would get right. It wouldn't cost a lot but when you are paying for the best - i think you deserve the best.

Having just returned from an afternoon tea with a friend at Morston Hall and after reading the opinion of the previous person I feel I need to say I totally disagree with their comments. This was my third visit and it just gets better and better. They have recently extended with a lovely new sun room which is ideal for afternoon tea. When we arrived we were greated with a warm welcome and shown to a table in there, which was all smartly prepared ready for us. We were offered a wide range of teas/coffees, I went for the traditional English breakfast (loose tea) while my friend was pleased to have fresh mint tea available. As always the staff were polite, friendly, professional and nothing was too much trouble and one girl even took a photo for us, of us enjoying our visit. They seem to have the balance right and asked on several occasions if everything was satisfactory and happily topped up our teas etc for us, whilst not appearing intrusive leaving us to relax, enjoy our tea and chat away. Many other people were having drinks and teas in there and the staff ensured that the tables were cleared and kept clean & tidy.
Then where do I begin with the food, the triple decker sandwiches are divine, the warm freshly baked scones with fresh cream and jam are delicious. I think the previous person mentioned about having something different on different occasions, this is normal and they do tell you when you book that aswell as the above goodies you get a selection of other cakes/treats! This time we had fruit cake, lemon tart, strawberry meringues and vanilla creams. I don't think it matters which selection you get as they are all freshly home-made and quite simply wonderful. Morston Hall is a real treat and I can't wait to return.

This is our third visit. Yet again just the most amazing food and lovely service. I overheard one waitress saying Galton was the best boss she's ever worked for. Says it all! The ethos he's got of employing polite staff, sourcing local foods, delighting the tastebuds and exceding expectations is fantastic. The value is great, please don't put your prices up, even though you could justify it! We've been fortunate enough to eat in some amazing places, but this punches with the very best of them. M. Roux jnr - you have seriously competition. Morston gallops across the finish line, they start with the best and then just get better!

Once considered the best kept secret in Norfolk, this beautiful Jacobean flint built house set in fine gardens has been under the watchful eye of the Blackistons and their team since 1992. It became only a well kept secret a couple of years ago when prospecting city journalists discovered the gem on the north Norfolk coast and decided to let the cat out of the bag nationally. Well now, since Chef Patron Galton Blackiston has been omelette racing on TV’s Saturday Kitchen and challenging the country in Great British Menu and the like, it’s no longer a secret at all. This is the best place to eat for miles (at least 70!).
By now everyone knows that they offer a no choice menu and are happy to leave it to the experts, (Of course dietary requirements are catered for. Just let them know when you book,). You may well fancy Asparagus on Tuesday but it might not be quite ripe until Wednesday so that is when it will go on the menu. And that Sea Bass may not have fancied sprat for lunch on Thursday but did on Saturday, to its peril, and lo & behold guess where it ends up 4 hours later surrounded by candles and flowers… and a nice, chilled bottle of white. Speaking of Wine, the list is staggering. Not some huge bible that you have to wade through, just well chosen, well annotated wines from around the world to suit all pockets and palates. There are some familiar faces as well as some shrewdly sourced rarities. I wont give examples, because there is no guarantee that they will have stuck around by the time you go. Some allocations are as low as 6 bottles per year!
Similarly with the menu. I could whet your appetite by disclosing what I had, but that would be cruel because it’s not what you will have when you go. They change the menu every day, stop… Every Day! Just know that everything is first class, fresh, ripe, locally sourced (if that’s best,), with some luxuries and delicacies from further a field.
So, you know when your special occasions and key dates are for the year so there is no excuse for leaving it to the last minute because it’s probably someone else’s too and they will have booked early.
So if you can get in, go, you’ll love it and if you stay, whatever you do, don’t tell ANYONE about the breakfast!
