“FANTASTIC HOTEL”
Reviewed January 3, 2013

We have stayed here before, it's in a fantastic location with great views out to sea. Great rooms and very clean. We stayed in room 118, no sea view but WHAT A ROOM!!! We had a huge four poster bed, plenty of storage and a lovely bathroom with a big big bath. Breakfast was plentiful with lots of choice and all the staff friendly and helpful. Ancient Mariner pub next door is a lovely place to have lunch or evening snack if you don't fancy eating in the hotel restaurant. A short walk to the post office is where you can catch the bus into Hunstanton, you can also get to Cromer, Wells Next to Sea, Burham Market, Kings Lynn and lots of other places. I would defiantly recommend this hotel, I can't fault it. It should be at least a 4 star hotel.

Room Tip: Don't drive, just park up and use the Coasthopper buses.

We stayed here for a two-night package over New Year. This included tea and cakes on arrival, table d'hote dinner on the first evening, breakfast each morning, champagne and canapes on New Year's Eve followed by a dinner dance with a five course dinner. This was at the amazing price of £385 for two in a superior room.

The hotel is beautifully situated, with its lawn leading directly down to the sand dunes, beach and sea. It has improved over the years and since our last visit has had the addition of a conservatory and a bar with lovely views. Other public rooms are the lounge, snooker room in basement (which we did not visit), restaurant with the same view and function rooms. Attached to the side is the Ancient Mariner's Inn which we did not visit on this occasion.

Our room did not have a sea view, but was very spacious with a king-sized four poster bed and mahogany furniture. The large bathroom was most attractive and looked so sparkling that you could think you were the first people to use it.

The food we had throughout our stay was very good. The menu consisted of a mixture of fine-dining type dishes and the more traditional, giving a good choice. The New Year's Eve dinner was of the same excellent standard, which is not always the case when a large number of people are being catered for at exactly the same time. Portions are on the generous size.

All the staff we encountered were friendly and helpful, although we did not see any Managers (or perhaps we did not recognise them as such) apart from the Food and Beverage Manager who sorted out a table allocation problem for us.

All in all this was a very nice stay and we will definitely be returning.

My partner and I stayed at this hotel after being let down by mother hotel in the area. It was past 10pm when we arrived, hungry, tired and disappointed by the previous hotel. The staff were very friendly and could not do enough to help us. We were offered the honeymoon suite at a discounted price as it was so late and we were pleasantly surprised by the huge room (and bed- 3 pillows wide!) We asked about food but unfortunately the kitchen was closed. However the staff kindly directed us to a local Indian takeaway and let us eat it in the restaurant, providing us with plates and cutlery. Lovely hotel, fantastic staff, breakfast was great, would definitely return!

Myself and my wife had booked a couple of nights at The Le Strange Arms Hotel as a pre-Christmas get away. We were highly impressed by everything the hotel had to offer. The staff at reception were welcoming and friendly, as were all the staff that we encountered during our stay. Our room, which was situated in the annex, was very well appointed and whilst we had no view to speak of, we didn't feel it necessary when simply stepping outside provided us with all the wonderful views we could wish for, looking over the Wash.
Breakfast was very good indeed, freshly cooked with a good selection of dishes and all using quality ingredients.
After our days out we returned and enjoyed a few very well kept real ales in the Marinas Arms whilst we ate in both the hotel restaurant and the Oak Bar. The quality of food, wine and service was exemplary and we couldn't fault anything. We will most certainly be returning to this hotel and would recommend it.

What a treat! Roaring fire, comfortable sofa and chairs, gorgeous food and delightful staff and a glass of bubbly. Will try to do it again before Christmas just so I can get to eat the chocolate cream muffins that i hadn't got room for today.

We stayed two nights last weekend. The reception staff dealt very efficiently when we checked in followed up with a 'phone call ten minutes to ask if we were happy with our accommodation. Our room was very comfortable if slightly warm. No sea view but the road was quiet enough. Ate at the Mariners next door but had a very disappointing meal. The hotel restaurant meal and service the following evening made up for it. Breakfast was very, very good. The staff all worked hard to ensure we enjoyed our stay. Location outstanding on the beach and enjoyed Sunday walk in glorious sun.
