“Big Barry!!!”
Reviewed February 24, 2013

Had a lovely week away in a static home there!! Couldn't fault the accommodation one bit. Facilities decent and big Bazza on the entertainment team was a card!!
On site chip shop to be avoided though, not very good at all! But nothing to do with Searles!
Overall a good stay at a lovely and very well positioned resort! Would love to come back in summer when the suns shining and the place is buzzing!

Sadly a typical British Seaside leisure resort spoilt by bad management & terrible service.

Boiler working intermittently&despite bringing it to the management attention, they failed to send the maintenance man around in 3 Days!

Several blown light bulbs across the unit!

Badly signposted!

Unit on the small side !

Not fit for the Acquired rating!

Very Disappointing fish & chips shop on cite!

Close proximity to town and the beach is a Plus

We would firstly like to thank you for your review. We do take all our guests comments very seriously and work hard to ensure we offer fantastic family holidays for all.

Since your last visit in March 2012 the Leisure Resort has undergone many changes and improvements. Vince has been improving the Toilet Block on our Touring Site over the winter months and we also have some new ranges of Holiday Hire Accommodation added to the fleet.

To our facilities we have added La Taverna and Cafe Casse in the re-developed La Piazza area. We have also re-launched our Restaurant 'Smokey Jo's', improving the menus and refurbishing the area. Our Outdoor Swimming Pool has also undergone a vast refurbishment with the addition of a new 'Splash Pad'.

Our Entertainments Team have been working hard over the winter months and have put together a fantastic Entertainment Package for the 2013 Season.

We look forward to welcoming you and your family back to Searles this year.

I don't really read reviews let alone wright them but reading some of the negative reviews on here I thought I would.
This was mine and my daughters first Daddy and Daughter camping expedition (she is 4)
we booked the first few days in September on a non electric pitch (we borrowed a very large 6 person tent of a friend) we were put in the over flow field as far away from the entertainment as possible. I did ask why we were so far away and this was because we had booked a non electric pitch.
which i thought was a fair response.
the pool was great indoors and out were warm.
loads to do
the entertainment was good for the little ones and the sunshiners was really good and kept my daughter entertained every evening while I had a sneaky pint.
yes the shop was a bit pricey but there is a Tesco over the road.
the chip shop is nice but there is a better on just out side the park
the staff were friendly and helpful
the park and facility's were clean and well kept.
Yes in parts the park is looking a bit tired and dated but this just ads to its charm.
we spent a day taking the land train to the town and walking back down the front.

we had such a good time that I'm booking up for another camping trip this summer.

also if you get the chance drive to wells next sea and do a spot of crab fishing of the harbor.

we have been visiting searles for many years and have been camping for most of them, the facilities used to be great but are now a bit dated(the last time we went was a couple of years ago so may have been upgraded?) there was always plenty to do even in bad weather.

we have been in the caravans a few times but only when we get special offers or in the low season ( this is because i refuse to pay the prices they charge in the summer months. I would rather go abroad) the caravans are mostly ok although on one occasion i did have to complain about the inch thick dust all over the place.

The reason we stopped going was because the entertaiment team changed and we didnt like the new ones (BRING BACK ROLLO AND HIS TEAM) although i think there may be yet another new team since we last visited due to the amount of complaints.

A few years ago i would have said this was rated a 5+++, but the last time we went it was maybe a 3.

we are going back this summer, camping again ( to see if anything has changed) because we love the norfolk coast so much we are willing to try. I will update with a new review when we return.

Feel very let down as last years New Year break was brilliant!

Firstly, we were in Elite 4 accomodation and there were two light bulbs not working, which sounds petty but as lighting was very poor was something of an issue. The only place you could see to read properly was at the dining table in front of a window, and no, we didn't bother complaining because we could not face having maintenance men traipsing in and out as it was horribly wet weather. Surely switching lights on and off to check they all work should be a basic requirement when preparing accomodation?

On the first evening we decided to give the "new and improved " restaurant SMOKEY JOE'S a try - we were shown to a table by a somewhat manic front of house guy and lasted less than five minutes before the noise level and children running riot caused us to leave, 8.00pm in the evening? It was bedlam - so glad they improved it!!

But lets to get to the whole point of the holiday, Adult only Black Tie/Casino Event in the Mariners Bar, listed as "The Neil Diamond Experience"

What a let down!
The bar staff were miserable, did someone forget to tell them they were being paid or something?
The buffet was a very poor offering, half of it looked as if it had been left from Christmas.

The entertainment was mediocre, and that's being complimentary. Last year there were two excellent supporting acts who could have done cabaret anywhere and been well received and the star turn was an ultimate professional who looked and performed like a star. This year started off with what we thought was a rather scruffy pub singer but turned out to be the entertainments manager ( that probably explains the whole fiasco ) and the "star" turn was an average pub singer whose only concession to Neil Daimond was a sparkly shirt. He sang for 20 minutes at a time and in between his wife played really rubbish disco music and the count down to midnight was him saying 10 - 9 - 8 etc.

Thats not all though folks, the interprtation of "black tie" has now been changed to include leggings, t-shrts and trainers! It was more like a down-market working men's club.

Will we be going back? you can bet your bottom dollar the answer is no, congratulations Searles.

We attended an event this November. We had a caravan which was warm, clean and tidy. The food was good in the restaurant staff very helpful. We would return. Good for families also. We wish we had paid for a lodge they looked wonderful.

Room Tip: the lodges are dearer but, well worth paying more for. We will next time

Having stayed at Searles for many years and found it to be excellent all round, however having just returned from a weekend break, my views have been clouded slightly, having 3 small children we especially visit the site to make use of the indoor swimming pool during the winter months, which is the highlight of their holiday, unfortunately the pool has not this time met our expectations, the pool was very cold on all three days of our visit, the water looked dirty, however staff I complained to said it was cloudy?? could hardly see my feet in the shallow end.the pool was so cold that it was virtually empty, everyone I spoke to complained about the pool temperature but also said it had been like it for weeks and nothing ever gets done about it. As previously stated this facility used to be excellent but now appears to have hit rock bottom.
