“Great Gables!”
Reviewed June 28, 2013

We spent a very pleasant nine days at the Gables during June. In every way, the guest house met our expectations. On arrival, the welcome from the owner, Richard, was warm & friendly & we immediately felt "at home." Our room (which Richard & his wife, Linda, had kindly upgraded to the one we had originally booked but at the same price) was clean, comfortable & with a pleasing view over a park & the sea beyond. The full English breakfast was wonderful - perfectly cooked & well presented. We had access to our room throughout the day, which allowed us to be flexible with our daily plans. We were sad to leave at the end of our holiday but we will certainly return.

Room Tip: Take advantage of the extensive breakfast menu & you will not need to eat anything else througho...

On arrival I was greeted by a sweet black and white cat, (I later found out it was Oliver) who purred and meowed quite delightfully! My room was lovely and bright with gorgeous vintage furniture, it felt just lke home. The hotel was a short walk to the town, sea and bus station. I have booked another stay in September. Pat D

we booked the gables for one night in march, we received a warm welcome and was directed to our room which had been changed from the garage room to room 8 when i asked about the room change i was told that it had been swapped because somebody with a dog had arrived and he thaught it would be better in that room, which i thaught was a sensible thing to do,our room was clean and tidy and there were tea /coffee available the milk was long life but i think it was off as it tainted the coffee, the only problem we had was that there was a dog in the house be it good natured as it was but i think this should be put in the description ,and our room didnt have a shower just a mixer at one end where the roof was low and no shower curtain which made the mixer redundant overall it was only for one night and the breafast was very nice, the room was a bit tired and could do with a revamp and the bed wasnt very comfortable, the hosts were very friendly and polite.

Room Tip: dont have room 8

Me and my boyfriend came and stayed Saturday night, greeted by a brilliant funny man who made us feel welcome. The room was brilliant. sea view, clean, pretty! And a run down the road to the seafront! Breakfast was bloody lovely, generous portions, and served by the same man. As a family run bed and breakfast you can tell this couple work extremely hard to make this place welcoming. We will definitely be back. Thank you!

We booked the Gables for the Friday and Saturday of Easter weekend. On arrival we were firstly greeted by one of the guesthouse cats and soon after the owner, a warm welcome, breakfast booked and our room key presented. A nice sunny room on the top floor, clean and bright, perfect for a weekend away, lots of space, a nice mix of modern and classic furniture very well appointed with ample wardrobe space for a weekend or short break stay. The room had a compact bathroom with complimentary toiletries, our only criticism was the replacement of shower doors with a shower curtain making the cubicle a bit "clingy" - however this is our ONLY critricism and should not deter future guests and would certainly not prevent us from returning!

Breakfast is served in a pleasant dining room with a good selection of cereals (including cocopops!), yoghurts and breakfast goodies. The cooked full english to order was a real treat, thick cut bacon and quality sausages, with toast and tea or coffee - a great start to the day!

The owner is a top man, service with a smile, a joke and a wry smile, on hand to help with info about local attractions, witch hunting in Kings Lynn in the 15th Century and importantly (in our case) how to find the coastal path to recover our car from a pub car park.

All up a very nice stay, apologies again for not noticing the clocks had changed and we hope to return

Room Tip: Some rooms have balconies, worth requesting maybe
