the first thing I have to mention about Byford's is their superb handling of the situation on our arrival. We had booked one of their rooms which was across the road and over a pub. This was not an issue as the room was lovely but the noise from the pub below was a little too much. I went to speak to the reception back at Byford's and with no fuss at all they swapped our booking to another room at the B&B for the next day.

the room we stayed in was really well furnished and the decor suited the building perfectly. the bed was so comfortable I overslept and nearly missed a dinner booking!

the breakfast is good and also the dinner. the staff at reception and in the restaurant were all attentive, polite and helpful.

I found no reason not to stay here again and will recommend to all.

We have just enjoyed a two night family break at Byfords. The accommodation is first class, with well-equipped, extremely comfortable bedrooms. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff. We certainly felt that all our needs were catered for. I would also recommend having dinner there. There is a good choice of menu and a pleasant dining room.

Room Tip: If there are more than two of you in the family try the self-catering accommodation. It sleeps four...

With only eight spaces in the car park (other parking is available close to the hotel) we arrived and grabbed the last space! From the moment you walk into the reception to the moment you leave the "Posh B&B" lives up to its advertising tag. We were offered tea and cake on the house and then shown up to a really beautiful room. Bed, Sheets, Pillow's, Bathroom and furnishings all fantastic. Dinner was good as was the tea and cake. Breakfast the next morning was pleasant and perfectly served. On our departure we were given some very yummy Jelly Babies. "Posh" comes at a price, but its worth it.

Byfords is one of our favourites in North Norfolk. From the moment you arrive and enjoy a complimentary ' tea and cake', the service is superb and always comes with a smile.
The accommodation is lovely, large comfy beds, B & O televisions and great modern bathrooms. They do the little touches so well, 'nighttime cookies', fruit and fresh milk/water from the fridge.
The food in the restaurant was superb and was a 'pleasant' struggle to cram in the 3 courses. The following day we had lunch at The Lifeboat at Thornham and I suggest the staff are sent to Byfords to learn how to smile and welcome guests!!!.
Can't wait to return.....

Room Tip: They are all great, go for the DB & B package.

There appears to be some confusion in the reviews regarding the separate restaurant and the "Posh B & B" above Byfords in Holt. This review relates strictly to the Posh B & B where we stayed for 4 nights in June 2013. From the reviews, our view is similar to that of the other reviewers of the boutique hotel (its far nicer than a B & B).

We arrived, fresh from our wedding, and were met by friendly and approachable staff. Our room (room 1) overlooked the market place and had a delightful window seat and the biggest bath I've ever seen in my life. Facilities and decor were exceptional - rustic Norfolk tweed and fabrics but with luxurious touches like a revolving TV. Leather Chaise Long and other huge soft leather chairs. Storage was a bit of an issue but there was a huge giant cupboard where we just shoved our bags. The bathroom was lovely, with two windows and fresh flowers. The staff also watered my wedding bouquet which I had left with me which was a lovely touch when the water was running low.

Upon check in, we were informed we may enjoy our free complimentary tea and cake in the cafe. We would have eaten it straight away but instead, enjoyed our two free shortbread biscuits and eclairs, left near our tea caddy. Like the other commenters, I found it a bit of a pain having to wander out to the fridge to get milk, but its much better doing that and having fresh milk than those awful small plastic milk containers in other hotels. The staff were also great at bringing us ice buckets which was lovely as we had some left over champagne to enjoy.

Breakfast was delightful. We were expecting continental but were informed that we could choose whatever we wanted - fresh local fish, the most amazing bacon sandwiches (SIX yes, SIX pieces of bacon people!) or fresh warm oozy croissants. Or all of the above. Breakfast was also leisurely over paper and large steaming cups of coffee. Bliss.

I would heartily recommend this place. Its beautifully done without feeling pretentious (looking at you Blakeney hotel). And the cakes.....orgasmic.

Room Tip: We had Room 1. It overlooked the square but wasn't noisy at all. And the bathroom....WOW.

After experiencing an excellent lunch at Byfords some time ago I have now stayed 3 times and it just seems to get better and better. There are so many small touches and comforts that make the whole establishment stand out from the rooms to the restaurant and shop. The staff are delightful and nothing is too much trouble. The quality of food is excellent and clearly all prepared on the premises. Each time there is something new, this time coffee/tea and cake if you wish on arrival. I won't repeat the details in the other reviews I will just agree and echo them.

For a birthday present - I booked 2 nights at Byfords B&B for myself & partner. We were warmly welcomed and shown to our room. It is a fascinatingly higgelgdy piggelegdy world, but our room was lovely. Tucked in a corner with a study/lounge, lovely king size bed & fab en-suite. Lots of hanging space & a lovely touch of homemade cookies on the tray with the tea/coffee making facilities.
Breakfast was great as served from 7am - 11am, so no need to rush. Lots of fresh bread, pastries, & fruit. Cereal selection & a great choice of cooked breakfasts too. All served by very friendly staff who were very attentive. On our second morning it was such a lovely sunny morning that we decided to sit outside, & that was no problem for the staff even though there was a sectioned bit in the restaurant purely for residents. They had no issue bringing our drinks out and do everything with a smile.
Would thoroughly recommend a stay here, and really hope we can get there again.
Thank you

Room Tip: We chose a king size room but all the other rooms looked just as nice.
