“Relaxing”
Reviewed July 12, 2017 for a stay in July 2017

Lovely clean quiet cottage decorated in keeping with its age but with all the mod cons you need. Great escape from the hustle and bustle of today lovely village. Had a good time on the broads. Some lovely places around the area plus Albany craft and gardens is worth a visit.

“One happi dog friendly cottage!”
Reviewed July 5, 2017 for a stay in June 2017

We needed a very quiet place for us to stay with our dog who is a really nervous.
Albion cottage did not disappoint, after driving a fair distance we appreciated the fresh cream scones and tea waiting for us. The cottage gave us all we could of wanted, included a safe garden for our dog to wander in. Not only is the cottage dog friendly but the local pub and beach are too!
Now how do we guarantee the weather?

“excellent dog friendly cottage”
Reviewed May 10, 2017 for a stay in May 2017

Great location for getting about between great yarmouth and cromer on coast road, easy walking distance to the sandy beach when tide is out. The albion cottage is close to local pub which is dog friendly, albion cottage is everything you could ask for whilst on holiday or short break home from home, beautifully decorated and furnished, owner makes you feel very welcomed and is close if you require anything

Thank you for a great review. If you need to know what the tide is up to, Albion Cottage has a tide clock so you don't get caught out with wet feet!

Thank you for you lovely review. The Cafe mentioned is The Happisburgh Halt - attached to the pub - and they do do a great fry up!

“Time travelling in Norfolk”
Reviewed January 19, 2017 for a stay in January 2017

This enchanting time-capsule of a Victorian arts and crafts cottage is quietly placed in a lane leading to the church in the Norfolk coastal avillage of Happisburgh. Attention to detail has been meticulous - William Morris wallpapers and fabrics, stripped and polished floorboards, period style cornices, lamps, fireplaces (an open fire in one room, stove in the other ) and numerous paintings, period photographs, ornaments, knick-knacks, even plants, all carefully curated to be in keeping with the house. Living rooms are furnished with old, dark wood pieces, the extensively equipped kitchen features reclaimed pine units and the two bedrooms have some interesting stripped pine furniture . There's even an ornamental chamber pot in one cupboard and a stone hot water bottle displayed on a shelf ! Shower room has a large shower cubicle with grab rails,a loo and a basin. Some beautiful tiles have been used for decoration. The mod cons (including central heating) happily integrate with the period fittings, and loads of books, games, jigsaws etc are provided. The term 'a real home from home' is a bit of a cliche in rental reviews, but 'Albion Cottage' genuinely feels as if the occupants have just stepped out for a while, leaving behind all those mundane little items that you suddenly find yourself needing - condiments, pencils, nail scissors, cotton wool and so on. There's an ample supply of loo rolls and towels, quality bedding and arriving just after Christmas , we found unexpected and very thoughtful seasonal touches including a real, fully decorated Christmas tree, crackers and mince pies . We loved it all, even down to the odd cobweb or two which only added to the period charm (and this is not a criticism , we have them at home too!) . If you can bear to leave this delightful property, there is a pub that we were told serves good food just around the corner. There's also an amazing little village post office and shop that seems to manage to sell almost everything and excellent fish and chips just down the road at Walcott. . Cromer, Norwich and Holt are easily reached, and there is a comprehensive file in the cottage full of ideas for things to do and places to visit.

“Characterful, cosy, heartwarming feel... My dream cottage...”

A beautifully decorated character cottage, 5 mins from the nearest pub, and a 10 minute walk to the beach. What more could you want? We spent Xmas here, and what a week we had. Out first evening was spent in the Hill House Pub... Great warm welcome, and so much choice on the food menu. I had a prawn cocktail with a side of chips - yes - I wanted something half healthy and half naughty.. The chips were gorgeous - the prawn cocktail was plentiful and tasty. The landlord sat with us and the staff could not do enough to offer advice on local attractions, or what to eat! The dogs were given a warm welcome and a water bowl and treats! The pub offers a breakfast service which I didn't partake in, but my friend and her daughter had English Breakfast twice and said it was delish. I had a takeaway sausage bap for the ride home and it was delicious.

The cottage is SO well equipped, we really didn't need to worry about anything - it was a week of total relaxation. We cooked Xmas dinner here - Tesco in Stalham is only 20 mins away and perfect for stocking up. It was the perfect getaway and possibly the cosiest Xmas I've ever had.. Loved every minute of it! The cottage is beautiful. Very dog friendly, family friendly, or a great choice for a week/weekend of romance.. Lock yourself away with the fire, or take long walks on the beach.. Just perfect!

Tourist Tips:
If you arrive at night bring a torch with you.. There are no street lights. It is difficult to get your bearings.. It is pitch black!!

Go and see the seals at Horsey - it takes 20 mins in the car - well worth it. Drive to Poppylands cafe which is 2 mins drive away for a cuppa or hot chocolate. (Seals can be seen Nov-Feb)

If you fancy something a little more special, drive to the Gunton Arms Gastro pub. Dogs are allowed in the bar and non-restaurant areas only. Look out for the deer who roam around the land surrounding the pub. Lots of choice of food, with a gastro twist.

Negatives?

Well, none really. The shower could be more powerful, but you get used to it over the week..
There are loads of clocks in the house but none tell the right time!!! We found that funny actually..

I would highly recommend this place.. I shall definitely return for a week in the sun!

Thank you for a lovely comprehensive review. I always leave lights, on timers, on in the house to help light your way and the porch light will come on one you have got that far. There are a few torches in the cottage. I love the fact that we don't have streetlights because we do have millions of stars instead! If stargazing is your thing bring your telescope.
