“Superb B&B”
Reviewed November 22, 2013

My wife and I only booked for one night as we had tickets for the Thursford Christmas Spectacular and didn't fancy driving home the same night. We were very lucky to stay at Bay Tree Cottage. Lovely, spotless room. Very comfortable twin beds. Superb breakfast - the full English is very full! Very friendly welcome from Sarah and Paul. Regarding location, we know North Norfolk quite well from summer visits (self catering) and Fakenham is very handy for the coast - lovely beaches and good for wildlife - also for various stately homes and places of interest.

Sometimes you strike lucky when touring around staying at various b&b`s, you find somewhere where you`re made to feel at home, it`s clean, comfortable and the breakfasts are just what you`d like, well my wife and i sure struck lucky when we stayed nearly a week at Bay Tree Cottage recently. All i can say, is that Bay Tree Cottage would be our first choice if we found ourselves in the Fakenham area again and wanted a lovely place to stay.

My wife and I were visiting North Norfolk in order to visit some NT properties and private houses as well, such as Holkham and Houghton Hall. We stayed with Paul and Sarah for 5 nights, and were made to feel very much "at home" with the welcome, flexible arrangements and delicious and ample breakfasts. Wonderful (and varied) fruit salads, and delicious lavender home-made biscuits were just two details marking this stay as delightfully different.

We stayed here for 2 nights when we attended a family wedding in Fakenham. Paul and Sarah were very welcoming and it was all very relaxed. Our double room was very comfortable, spotlessly clean, and quiet (with yummy biscuits!) The breakfasts were delicious, taken in a cosy breakfast room looking out onto a lovely garden. Paul and Sarah were so nice and Paul even gave us a lift to the wedding. The location is good; in a quiet area but an short, easy stroll to the centre. Thanks for a lovely stay. Highly recommended.

My girlfriend and I had a lovely two-night stay at this B&B. The cosy room (a twin) was part of the first floor of the owner's house and was extremely quiet, with blackout curtains to keep out the early-morning light and soft pillows and mattresses. There were lovely little touches, such as shortbread and hot chocolate, extra blankets and nice toiletries, and the cooked and continental breakfasts were large in size and tasted excellent. Sarah was very flexible about our arrival time and let us come and go as we pleased. This would be a good base for anyone planning to explore the area, such as the coast around Cromer or Wells-next-the-Sea.

There is a friendly, relaxed welcome, a spotlessly clean room, a very comfortable night's sleep, a most delicious breakfast including the prettiest fruit salad possible, what more could one want? Not one, but two lots of fresh flowers in our room, with more on the breakfast table. There is great attention to your comfort, without any fuss, surely the ideal combination. Thank you very much indeed.

Thoroughly enjoyed our 2 night stay. The accommodation includes everything you can possibly need including a few extras such as homemade shortbread and fresh flowers. Spotlessly clean, marvellous breakfast - loved the fresh fruit salad, quiet and a spacious comfy room.
Fakenham itself is pretty basic but it has a small variety of restaurants, pubs, shops and a lovely little cinema-all within walking distance.
The location is perfect for easily exploring the north Norfolk coastline.
