We have just arrived back from a fantastic stay at the granary barn.
We found absolutely everything we needed and we're very comfortable being 5 adults and 3 children. Well stocked barn which was fairly private considering there are a 4 or 6 attached barns which appear to be smaller than ours. Pool and games room were fabulous extras to have,of which we made good use of. It was a great base to go off and explore the surrounding area and coast lines.
We hope to return at some point and would definitely recommend this place to friends and family!
Booked both Granary and West Barn for our family bash - age range from 12-83.We were made so welcome by Nicky and were amazed at the birthday goodies she had left for us. The Barns were exceptionally well equipped, we all loved the games room and pool and the wild life around us.Everybody said what a great find and look forward to returning next year.
Party of seven for hen weekend. Great location - within easy reach of several coastal towns and also much visited inland destinations. Barn is lovely, spacious and kitchen is well equipped (ample glasses, crockery, cutlery and cooking utensils/pans). Welcome gifts left by owner are a lovely gesture. Private patio area at rear is lovely along with the horses in the field behind! Several members of our party will return with their friends and family as will we. Would recommend!
Positives: owner clearly goes out of her way for the little touches she leaves out. Birthday cake, scones, porridge, milk, butter etc...
Negatives: the cottage is not cleaned to a standard I think is acceptable, dust, cobwebs, insects dead and alive, oven was gross, no bin liners. Cushions on sofa stained and clearly not been cleaned underneath. Bathrooms were dusty, hairs in bath in the ensuite, poo in the toilet, no toilet roll or bleach.
Once you have arrived it’s extremely difficult to find or contact the owner. Eventually when I did I was looked at like I was crazy to suggest the place was too dusty to qualify as clean and the bugs and cobwebs are part of the rustic nature for being in the country. I suppose everyone has different expectations. There are far too many niknaks to clean properly so I can see why it’s not done, and even when the the toilet was re-cleaned, it really wasn’t.
Disappointing, won’t return.
Stayed here as a family of 6 adults as we visited the Thursford Christmas Spectacular. The barn was fantastic, the gifts left by the owner were most welcome. Did not use the swimming pool as the weather was so cold but looked lovely. The barn was quite cold and heaters were not great but could not fault anything. Many thanks for letting us stay here would definitely stay again.
We had a family Christmas this weekend and what can I say it was absolutely wonderful from the moment we walked through the door with the heating on Christmas tree up and milk and cakes in the fridge plus a bottle of bucks Fizz waiting for us. This holiday home caters for all sorts from the elderly right up to small families would recommend it to anyone anytime and definitely definitely go back again very soon.
We stayed for a week in Granary Barn. The barn is spacious, comfortable - a real home from home. We arrived to find a very generous welcome pack from Nicky which was superb and such a wonderful thought. It was a joy to stay there and will be back again. We had a private patio where we had BBQ's and admired the view and made friends with the horses! The pool was lovely too had a swim each morning before the kids woke up. Games Room great fun. All in all if you are looking for a restful holiday with a touch of class Granary Barn is for you. Thanks to Nicky and Nige and Nicky's parents - all sooooo friendly!
