We've got to like this for a meal on the way home from Norwich - it's brilliant value and with excellent service. The parking spaces are close enough for me to walk in and having to get my wheelchair out of the car.

It helps that they've Adnams and Woodfordes beers and, early evening they do 2 meals for &10 and I still can't finish the chips.

Had been staying about 5 miles away on a small caravan site, for the weekend and went here on the off chance on a beautiful Sunday early evening, about 6pm. When we got there, the car park was heaving so was surprised that they could accommodate 5 of us straight away with a table near the bar. The pub had a lovely relaxed family friendly atmosphere and the service was quick and friendly too. 3 of our party had whitebait starters, while the 2 ladies had deep fried mushrooms. Came fairly promptly and was very nice. We hadn't banked on the size of the main portions though and regretted having the starters! They were very generous! 2 of us had steak and ale pie which came with either chips, mash or herby diced potatoes and three other veg. 1had the fish and chips and it was huge with super crispy batter, 1 had the lasagne with chips while the other lady in our party chose the chicken supreme with herby diced potatoes and it was gorgeous but was soo full she just couldn't eat it all! The pie people also could not eat it all but did not want to waste it and the staff were more than happy to pop the leftovers into plastic tubs for us to take home!
We stayed for a while afterwards and had a couple more drinks and while chatting to the staff looking after us,it turned out that the pub is dog-friendly too, which we didn't realize and as we had left our dog in the car, she said "Go and bring him in, I'll get him a bowl of water!"
Will definitely go there again. There was so much outside to keep young families entertained even though we no longer have a young family.

The other thing we commented on when we came away was the fact that you can actually stand at the entrance to the pub and watch the kitchen in action, something that very rarely happens as usually kitchens are out of the way at the back of most pubs.

I booked a table for four of us on a Tuesday lunchtime just in case, and good job i did as they were busy. Two menu choices, two main meals for £12 and the usual menu, lots of choice for me, a vegitarian and also my friend who is gluten intolerant. The meals were delicious my Spinich and cream cheese lasagne was the best i,ve ever tasted. Our waitress was lovely and very attentive, For being a busy lunchtime it was still a peacefull dining expereance. Have been a few times before and am never dissapointed.

The pub is in a lovely location, it's a beautiful setting just next to the river with a great, secure play area for the kids, it's a very typical British pub with swirly carpet and in our opinion, pretty standard pub grub. What really stood out was the customer service, the waitresses couldn't have been more helpful or friendly, and the food service itself was very prompt.

We both ordered the roast beef as it was Sunday lunch time, but we were both rather disappointed - whilst portions were a decent size, the plates were warm and the vegetables were reasonable with a nicely done Yorkshire and plenty of gravy, sadly the meat was dry and rather overcooked. At £8.95 per roast and as a place which seems to promote the fact that roasts are available daily, our overriding impression was ' could do better' I'm afraid.

The place was packed with other diners, and other meals going past looked OK, and the car park was heaving, so hopefully this was just a one off.

We stopped here by chance on Sunday evening as we were driving past. What a lucky choice it was. The staff to a person were absolutely charming and made us really welcome. The waitress connected with my 3 year old and showed great patience as he explained his toy car collection to her. Food came promptly and was excellent would consider moving to Acle just to have this as our local! Best pub I have ever eaten in, a real credit to the staff
