1st class beer, 1st class food, 1st class service, 1st class value. Pleasant location next to river and entertainment for children available. What more is there to add?

“Top spot”
Reviewed August 13, 2012

Family meal on the off-chance on Saturday evening 10th Aug 2012. Very warm and friendly staff, attentive despite being very busy. Food was great and reasonably priced.
We enjoyed it so much that I even tried to pay twice...(too many Stella's me thinks).
Try it you won't be disappointed.

“sunday by the river”
Reviewed August 12, 2012

we called in for sunday lunch choosing to eat in the resturant area, the food was lovely, young girl who took our order was polite but all other staff seemed distant and only intrested in the people they knew. we were asked if we wanted anything else after our meal and we requested the dessert menu which the waitress brought [not the young girl we had before ] and half hour later we still were waiting for her to come back and take our order, dispite the fact she walked right passed our table on several occasions. needless to say we got up paid our bill to the very unfriendly girl on the till and left . shame about the service as the food was really nice.

“Really good service at a very busy time”
Reviewed August 3, 2012

We went to the pub for a meal & a drink, while a jazz band were entertaining outside. The Water Rats (band) had drawn a large following & we expected a wait for our food, but they had a good service, with plenty of attentive restaurant staff, & we were served a lovely tasty piping hot meal in good time. There were six of us & we were pleased with our choice of food, which was tasty & substantial. Well done, we will be back again, not having been there for about twelve years. There is lots of river frontage & a nice garden to eat in on a warm Summer's day.

“Lovely setting, shame the food didn't match...”
Reviewed July 27, 2012

Took some work colleagues on a sunny day to relax after a terrible day in the office, place was packed, but, I was served a starter with dirty lettuce, which was gritty and actually had dirt on it, complained, waitress didn't seem bothered, and it put me off the rest of the food. Refused to pay for starter when bill came in, after much eye rolling it was removed from bill, never again, and I tell anybody who asks to avoid this place as they seem to cater for the passing once in a lifetime tourist trade.
