“Short break”
Reviewed July 30, 2013

I arranged a short break with aged parents as part of an 80th birthday celebration. From arrival my parents enjoyed every minute and even got in a couple of rounds on the crazy golf. The rooms we had were reasonably close together and both rooms were nice and clean and not overly hot, even in the summery weather. Afternoon tea in the bar was supplied by very pleasant staff and we didn't mind the slightly longer than expected delay on receiving very fresh, warm scones. We had dInner in the restaurant later in the evening and then breakfast (both very nice meals with a good range of choices) before departing to spend a lovely day up at Beamish, which wasn't too far away, before returning home. It is not often I find a place that I would want to return to and stay again, particularly in the U.K but Redworth Hall is one of the few venues that has made it onto my 'would go back list'.

I recently stayed at the hotel for one night for a wedding. I booked through Hotelopia and booked a standard double room. We checked in and had a small amount of time to get ready for the wedding so had no time to ask to change rooms. The wallpaper in the room was all ripped, the net curtain had a hole in, the windows were filthy and all the furniture was chipped and generally was very tired looking. The bathroom was dirty and again all items were chipped and tired. The sink actually gets in the way of you sitting on the toilet! Ive stayed at 4 star hotels in the UK such as Da Vere Slaley Hall and in comparison I was extremely disappointed and feel the room was no more than a 2 star. The hotel grounds were nice and the breakfast was ok. The drinks are expensive for a pint of lager and a wine more than £10. Overall I would not return to this hotel and feel for the money we paid the standard was not acceptable.

Very grand entrance and reception. Rooms are very comfortable with an excellent restaurant and good bar facilities. From a business travellers point of view, for the price of a branded 'Inn' you get personality bordering on splendour. Ideal for a business presentation/training day. It's that good that I would bring my wife here for a treat - which I can't say for most of the business hotels I stay in.

We were booked to stay 2 nights but for personal reasons we unable to stay the second night. When we told them at night we would be checking out in the morning there was no response from the receptionist, I would have thought they would at least enquire, was everything alright?.
The Hotel was alright and the staff were very attentive and cheery especially Charlotte who waited on us at Dinner, The Dinner was lovely, well presented and the complimentary bottle of wine was excellent. The room was excellent and I had a great sleep.
We went down early for the Buffet breakfast but the food, although an extensive choice was not fresh. But I suppose that's one of differences between staying at a B&B and getting a freshly served breakfast and a Hotel Buffet.

Magnificent property. You can use/peruse the grand home but you'll stay out back in a conventional hotel room. The grounds inspire gentile walks. Excellent buffet breakfast. Nice pub. Friendly atmosphere
