Our first time to the County arrived a little early for our table no problem at all for the staff who greeted us at the door
Lovely menu excellent choice for fish lovers that's us,everything cooked to perfection and served with a smile.
Good idea with the cheese board paying for what your want and good size pieces of local cheese.
Wine at a sensible price and water put on the table automatically a nice touch.
See you all again soon

Thank Beverly E

I live so close to this restaurant but have never tried it.
I went with friends and ordered Homemade Steak and Ale Pie ( Shortcrust Pastry, Stock Gravy) for £12.95 which came with one side selected from mash, chips, salad, mushroom, peas, onion rings or seasonal vegetables and potatoes. Additional side dishes can be ordered for £1.00 - £2.50. I ordered chips with my pie.

The restaurant was nicely presented, clean and tidy. We were seated very quickly and our server was attentive. Food was served very quickly (we had an early reservation) and it was well presented. My pie was a good size portion and was piping hot. The chips were hand cut and well cooked.

I would thoroughly recommend this restaurant and the steak and ale pie.

We were able to get a table here on a Friday night after just walking in. This could have been worrying but we were not disappointed. The food was great and good value. Great selection of good craft ales and wines by the glass.

We have visited The County several times now since August 2009. The most recent a couple of weeks ago.
As ever there is a good selection of food available, all well cooked and very helpful and attentive staff.
As The County often get very busy, it is advisable to book in advance, as it is quite popular with a good mixture of people, both couples, families and those with children.
It is quite near to where I live, and it is actually located at Aycliffe Village, just south of Newton Aycliffe. The A167 runs through the village and the County is two streets behind the main road, so there is no noise from the road.
It is very popular and has a small car park at the rear which does fill up at popular times.
Have already booked another table for a few weeks time.
