Have eaten here on a couple of occasions. First time I had the steak pie which had lots of juicy meat and light puff pastry. My husband had the burger - great taste and presentation. And real chips!
Second time I took some friends for the Sunday carvery, served by the friendly chef. It was one of the best I have ever had.
The landlord and his wife are very welcoming, and all the staff very friendly and efficient.
I would recommend the Bay Horse without any hesitation.

Just returned from a stay at nearby Redworth Hall Hotel, ate at the Bay Horse on 2 occasions --Friday lunch and Saturday evening. Great friendly staff ( different staff each occasion) very obliging-- great food at reasonable prices-- good menu and a great atmosphere -especialy Saturday with a nice mix of locals ,regulars ( some just drinking)and "visitors". Would recommend this to anyone visiting the local area and especially any staying at Redworth Hall ,lovely hotel but very pricey for "average" food.
Nice to see a "local" pub thriving through providing a great service, freshly cooked local produce and good ales.

We tried The Bay Horse when we stayed nearby at Redworth, excellent food on two occassions with a varied selection of real ales, we spent a pleasant time and had good service on both visits.
The landlord and his wife made us welcome, the staff were attentive and prompt and we will be calling in the next time we are nearby.

Finding this pub was like 'stepping back in time' in that it was how pubs used to be and indeed, should be. It has a great atmosphere, very warm and welcoming with locals mixing with visitors and the landlord and all staff being extremely friendly and helpful.

We have eaten three times here recently and each meal has been excellent. We are so glad we have found this pub, its a great escape, atmosphere and meals.

my wife and myself ate here the saturday of bank holiday weekend after having a nice meal a couple of weeks ago.I ordered the Thai green curry chicken off the specials board at £10.95 and my wife ordered the lasagne off the special menu at about £6.00 .On sitting down to order the waitress a middle aged lady with a big chip on her shoulder and i dont mean a potato one asked us what we wanted this was before we had even opened the menu so we told her we needed more time .After this she made sure we had plenty of time she avoided us for about 20 minutes and then came back and said are you ready now in a disguised sarcastic tone. When the food finally arrived my wife's was inedible mush no mince just a mush of cheese and tomato we sent it back and the waitress said i will pass on your comments to the chef. The curry was poor but edible and as i am a man and starving by this time i ate it.The manager came up to our table and said he heard we weren't happy with the lasagne my wife said no we will just forget about it so she made do with the glass of wine we had bought. We finished off and went to pay and not only did the manager forget about the bad meal but he charged us for it charming we promptly told the barmaid we had sent it back and she went to see the manager who then took the price of the meal off our bill.Summing up a bad meal that wasn't at all cheap we will stick to the george and dragon from now on for our meals out as it is far far superior.
