“get a new chef”
Reviewed August 28, 2012

my wife and myself ate here the saturday of bank holiday weekend after having a nice meal a couple of weeks ago.I ordered the Thai green curry chicken off the specials board at £10.95 and my wife ordered the lasagne off the special menu at about £6.00 .On sitting down to order the waitress a middle aged lady with a big chip on her shoulder and i dont mean a potato one asked us what we wanted this was before we had even opened the menu so we told her we needed more time .After this she made sure we had plenty of time she avoided us for about 20 minutes and then came back and said are you ready now in a disguised sarcastic tone. When the food finally arrived my wife's was inedible mush no mince just a mush of cheese and tomato we sent it back and the waitress said i will pass on your comments to the chef. The curry was poor but edible and as i am a man and starving by this time i ate it.The manager came up to our table and said he heard we weren't happy with the lasagne my wife said no we will just forget about it so she made do with the glass of wine we had bought. We finished off and went to pay and not only did the manager forget about the bad meal but he charged us for it charming we promptly told the barmaid we had sent it back and she went to see the manager who then took the price of the meal off our bill.Summing up a bad meal that wasn't at all cheap we will stick to the george and dragon from now on for our meals out as it is far far superior.

“Excellent food”
Reviewed August 23, 2012

Have eaten here many times in past couple of months and have never left disappointed.
We used to eat at The Bay Horse in Middridge but find that the quality of food at Heighington much better. Additionally the surroundings are much nicer and there is a laid back atmosphere at The Bay Horse Heighington.

If you want lovely food served by friendly staff in a relaxed setting then you wont be disappointed.

“Improved since last visit”
Reviewed August 12, 2012

This is the second time we have visited the bay horse since the new owners took over not being terribly impressed the first time, this time however we will definitely be returning. My wife had the steak pie off the light menu which is served before 7pm this was anything but a light meal with a good portion of chips which were very tasty and also a portion of veg and an extra gravy boat.I had a chicken dish off the specials board which was stuffed with black pudding and again served with chips and salad.Since the last visit the portions and quality seemed to have sky rocketed also the drinks prices seemed very reasonable and the black sheep was spot on.The staff were very friendly and eager to please even though they were pretty busy don't hesitate on going here you wont be disappointed .

“Great food and lovely people”
Reviewed August 5, 2012

We visited the bay horse for a few drinks and dinner while we were staying near by at redworth hall. The pub decor is lovely, exactly how a pub should be, great choice of beers and our food was fabulous. My husband had a trio of burgers and I had rack of lamb, both were beautifully and thoughtfully presented and tasted even better. The staff were so friendly and helpful. We will definately be visiting again

“Huge portions of quality food”

Friendy staff, serving fantastic food in a pretty setting...What more could you want?
Nice comfy bed in a clean room..YES had that as well
Was lucky enough to find this hotel through a KGB deal, and will definitely book again in the future.(though would recommend checking directly with the hotel as I'm sure going by the food and drink deals they will have good offers all year)
