Positives and negatives.....beautiful building, outside decking will be great in the right weather, very clean, modern, garden centre style cafe. Afternoon tea at £11.50 (we got a substantial voucher discount) amounts to fetch a tray, choose a sandwich from the fridge (there were only four left at 2.30) choose a cake and a scone then go to checkout for tea or coffee. Don't choose panini - not included - don't ask for cappuccino - not included. Some staff absolutely delightful, some disinterested. Large portions, fresh, but packaged like motorway service station. No waitress service. No second helpings - which is fine given the portion size - so this is definitely a place to visit, especially at the right time of the year, food and drink very acceptable but forget 'afternoon tea' format.

Thank you for taking the time to review us here at Jordans Mill. We are a new venue and trying out new things, of which the 'afternoon tea' voucher offer is just one. I'm glad that you seem to have enjoyed your visit over all and would hope that, when you come again, that you will find more that you like. You mentioned times of year and I would urge you to try us in the summer months particularly as we have a lovely decked area overlooking the Ivel river and our new gardens should be at their best at that time.

We had a fascinating guided tour (about 45 minutes) by a friendly, knowledgeable and enthusiastic volunteer. The mill has been brilliantly adapted for visitors and to preserve the machinery for generations to enjoy. Our only suggestion would be to add a little more interest on route. This would be especially useful for children, whose attention may wane with needing to listen all the while, and I know the mill are keen to involve children, as their interactive education centre shows. Perhaps old photos/pictures and boards of easy to understand interesting facts, or models/artefacts along the way could be incorporated? We had hoped to have had lunch at the cafe on the way out but, unfortunately, the sandwich choice was poor and unappetising, so we plumped for tea and cake instead, which was reasonably priced and enjoyable. The shop, incorporated within the cafe area, had a good variety of Jordans own products, as well as local produced fare, including honey and chutneys. Overall, a well spent couple of hours.

Thank you very much for coming to the mill and obviously enjoying your tour whilst here. We take on board all of your constructive ideas. We already have a plan that we will be carrying out to improve the existing offering, and would ask you to keep an eye on developments here at Jordans mill. Not just for the mill, but also the gardens, education barn and throughout the site. I hope that you will come back soon to see what we have coming up and know that the spring will bring a lot of action to our new landscaped gardens and lots of other things!

This is so local to me i could walk here, great setting overlooking the river Ivel, the mill is well worth a visit to learn how grain was milled here by the Jordan family, incidently i like there commitment to manufacturing in Biggleswade as a local employer.
the winter garden is now open, the cafe is a lovely place to relax with a drink or snack from cafe.

Thank you for your kind words about us here at Jordans Mill. We are still pretty new, so hope that we are a useful place for you as you are so local. We have lots coming up towards the end of the year with our first Christmas - decorations are going up tonight and the turkey with all the trimmings will be in the servery from next week - and we have even more planned for 2014, so keep an eye out for news on more events and pop in for another drink and a snack soon.

Visited the cafe over this last weekend for breakfast/brunch. Food good value and plentiful but organisation a bit chaotic at times - lots of staff but no real focus on the job in hand.

Thank you for writing about us here and your fair comments about your visit last Sunday. We have Prince Charles coming here on Tuesday and I know that the staff have had a lot of training over the last couple of weeks, so I do hope that was why they seemed to be a little distracted! I hope that you try us again soon and am sure that you will have another generous breakfast overlooking the Ivel!
