“You get what you pay for ”

The food here passes as good pub grub at a reasonable price. Service simply depends on how busy it is but having eaten here a few times I can say the staff try their best considering they are slaves to Greene king. Talking of which, they occasionally manage two real ales but normally you are stuck with IPA which is a shame.

“Better than many Greene King pubs but not memorable. Good value.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 22, 2013

We live in Biggleswade and visit the Yorkshire Grey a couple of times a month. It is a fairly typical GK food pub, family oriented, and is not the worst in the area.
Food is always properly heated and promptly served, but some details could be improved.
Many tables are close to external doors which cause cold draughts. The lighting is, in places, barely bright enough to read the menu.
Yesterday we visited around 5pm and most of the tables (including some for just 4 people)had 'reserved' signs; we ate at a high, bar table which was the only one available. We left around 6.15 and most of the reserved tables were still unoccupied. In that time two couples and one group of three had entered and left - if the reservation system had been properly managed they would have been able to accomodate at least some of these potential customers.
The staff are always fairly friendly and keen to help but it just seems a bit chaotic.
It only has standard GK beer, no proper real ale.
It is, however, always very good value.
I do think it is a shame they removed the traditional pub sign earlier this year.

“absolutely awful”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 14, 2013

Think they were having a bad night but the simplest of food absolutely spoiled, such a shame as it is so local.

“Great Manager”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 11, 2013

Went on a Saturday night. Very busy, Manageress came up and told us tat she would try to find us a table as soon as possible. This turned out to be approx. 3 minutes. Service was great as normal only fault scampi was reformed and not crispy, but my gammon was great. Greene King should be proud of this employee.

“Keep coming back!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 2, 2013

I eat here with friends for a late lunch on Sunday afternoons, yet to find much, if anything, to complain about. Although busy they always find us a table. Pleased that although it's recently under new management the standards of food/service haven't changed, always a worry when you've found a decent place to eat out. Very pleasant new landlady is front of house, her husband is the chef.
Staff always friendly and efficient, restaurant always clean, excellent large garden/play area for children, food consistently well cooked and presented, plenty of parking (although on rare occasions we have had to park on the roadside as they're so popular).
All in all a very pleasant, relaxing dining experience which we will continue to repeat.
