We took a tour with Better Moments to summer colony of male walruses on Midsummer Day.
After a two hour trip from Longyerbyen with a fast boat we finally reached the colony in Prins Karls Forland.
Magnificent beasts, great cold wilderness and a skilled guide and boatman.
We were blessed with great sunny weather the whole day (not always guaranteed here) and on our way back we lucky enough to saw the greatest of them all - blue whale.
What a great day!

Our very first boat trip we did with Better Moments was the catch of the day! We didn't really know what to expect. We saw a blue whale, 2 fin whales and some puffins! It was amazing. I'm also happy that the captain tries to get us closer but still keeps a distance from the whales so as to minimise any harm to the animal.

We were so excited about the trip that we decided to go with them for the Walrus safari! We were able to go ashore to get closer to the walrus (to soak in their smellyness!) but it was so surreal. It was just more than amazing.

The guides and captain were super, the food and champagne on every trip was great. The tours may be expensive but it was worth every penny :) Thanks you guys, hope we'll see you again!

Joined the walrus safari which was a nice experience. 2 hour boat trip with a clean and modern vessel traveling at 30 knots, with a short stop at a bird breeding cliff. Tour takes max 12 people, which makes it more personal. We reached land with a tiny rubber boat 4 at a time and watched a walrus colony from appr 60 meters distance. Light sandwich lunch on board. On the way back we sighted a blue whale. A lovely and sunny day crowned the experience

I can really recommend Better Moments as a tour operator - me and my friend took three of their tours while in Longyearbyen in the middle of June.

The first day we took the evening tour called "Catch of the day". Though a bit unlucky with the weather, which limited the visibility and hid most of the beautiful views of the Icefjord - we had an awesome experience. First we encountered a group of Beluga whales and then, during the course of the evening, we encountered and were able to get pretty close to blue whales on four different occasions. We also had a very scenic dinner by one of the glacier fronts. Fantastic. Our guide and boat captain were great and put in a lot of effort to help us find the wild life and give us the best possible experience.

The second day we did the "Walrus safari". Once again, the weather was not what we hoped for, but our captain had no problem getting us across the open sea though the sea at times was somewhat choppy. Once at the walrus colony, we got to spend some good quality time with the walruses A truly special experience. The only minus was that a great deal of the walruses had temporarily left the colony because of the windy weather, so there were only seven left for us to see. We were told that there had been about thirty of them there just a couple of days earlier. On the way out we once again got pretty close to a blue whale. Once again we had great guides with us.

The third day, we did the "Summer adventure on a snow mobile"-tour. It was actually more of a hike than it was about snow mobile-driving (we maybe spent 30 minutes with the snow mobiles of the total five hours of the tour). But we really liked it. The nature on and around the glacier was beautiful, and our guide was knowledgeable and very service minded. She was for an example happy to extend the tour with more than an hour so that everybody had enough time to see and do everything. Also, she was good at finding nice fossils and helped everybody to find their own pieces to take back home as souvenirs. On the way back, we saw a wild rein dear.

The total silence we experienced when we were alone up at the glacier pass was quite an experience. And, of course, driving snow mobiles on a glacier was awesome!

All of these tours - as everything in Norway - cost quite a lot, but they are very well worth the money.

Had am amazing time doing Better Moment's "Catch of the Day"-tour!! We were lucky to see two different kinds of whale and also got to enjoy some very tasty soup (+even more tasty bread) while enjoying the view of a absolutely stunning glacier.
