Just got home from a perfect holiday in this lovely hotel situated in a superb location.
I shall start my review about the hotel first, it is all inclusive(AL) which starts at 11a.m up until 11p.m, the bar is still open after this time but you do have to pay for any drinks. The drinks included in AL are soft drinks, water, local beer ,wine, brandy, ouzo and raki any other alcohol you will have to buy, including cocktails. The bar staff are so welcoming and good fun who work extremely hard, thanks Gregorio and Nikoli it was a pleasure to meet you both!
The food in the hotel is really lovely, all freshly cooked traditional Greek dishes, there is a lot of variety and the menu alters daily. If you are a burger and chips type of person then this hotel is not for you. We like the fact that its Greek food we are trying and not your typical Brit food. The staff who work in the dining area are lovely particually Eva who is warm and friendly. The catering staff do a brilliant job, thank-you!
Our room had a lovely large balcony with beautiful views over the sea. The room was spotless, cleaned daily, towels where changed daily and I lost count of the amount of times the cleaner changed our bedding. Rooms have a fridge and air conditioning which are free, there is a safe which is charged ten pounds per week. My only criticism is the air con needs to be better(we went in September and found it not cold enough so I imagine in July/August it to be very uncomfortable) shower needs an update as does the toilet seat but that is a tiny point to make!
There are two beautiful pool areas, one with childrens slides and the other situated next to the main hotel, both pools have plenty of beds(no need to grab a bed at 7a.m), they are really clean and tidy surrounded by palm trees that give plenty of shaded areas if needed.
The Hotel has lots of different nationalities mainly Russians and not many English but this really did not bother us.
The location of the Hotel is absolutely perfect, about a 10min walk to star beach. Starbeach is a must! It is situated on the beach front with numerous pools, bars to choose from. This is a large complex that is free to go into. It has a waterpark (8 euro per person), foam party daily in the summer months, lots of water sports if that's your thing. They do charge for sunbeds both on the beach and on the pool areas but you can just have a walk about and go for a drink which we did regularly. I would highly recommend it!
A further 10 min walk from here you hit the town of Hersonissos, this town has something to offer for everyone. There are some really lovely situated bars along the beach front with lovely views, if you want it more lively then go a bit further into the town for the night clubs, which where a bit wild for us but worth a visit. I could imagine it be very busy and wild in July and August but its such a large place that there is something for everyone if you want to avoid it.
Our favourite place was Agios Nikolaos, we caught the bus from the main road, its a 40min ride and the buses come every 30mins. Its a coastal town that has a port but the main life is around the lake which is surrounded and overlooked by cafes and restaurants, its busy tourist place that is beautiful.
Overall we had a brilliant time! This hotel has received a lot of negative comments on trip advisor which we found to be unfounded all I would say is that it is a three star and I think this is reflected in this price compared to a four star, if you expect four star then you need to pay the extra money!
A big thank-you to all the staff who work extremely hard here we fully appreciate it so much so that we are looking at booking for next year. Thanks for making our holiday so special from Jen&Dame

Room Tip: Our room was on the side so had the sun all day so next year I would ask for front room which was sh...

We just came back of one week in this hotel. It was quite good however some stuffs are missing for a 4* hotel. First the food is not really what we had expected(fortunately we have pasta), then the cleaning in our room was not so good ( still hair on the ground in the bathroom and ants on the ground)!
But 2 things were Great : The Staff, the reception ( morning shift with Agapi and Georgia) was so welcoming and the staff in the restaurant ( specially Vesselina) was really nice.
It was so hot, we enjoyed a lot the 2 swimming pools and the open bar, you can have soda & beer as you want. The swimming pool are really clean and you have the beach just in front the hotel.
The hotel is very well situated, 15 mn by walking you will find a great city with a lot of shops... nothing is expensive!
A lot of Russians in this hotel, and not some much french people, but this hotel is still good !!

We recommend this hotel ::)

We read some of the reviews before travelling - to those who are expecting a London, New York or Las Vegas 4 Star hotel, you need to go to London, New York or Las Vegas. If you want a comfortable, clean, friendly good quality hotel in the sun then this is the place to go!

We traveled with 2 other families and we all enjoyed our stay very much. In the dining room the food isn't going to win any Michelin Stars, but it was good and plentiful with a reasonably good variety each day. We tended to go to the same area of the dining room each day and our waitress Aliona was brilliant and could not have done any more to make sure we were happy and enjoyed our meals, and she always made sure our party of 9 had a table large enough to sit together. The Customer Service Manager, Angelo, was brilliant and is a great asset to this hotel, speaks 4 languages fluently and planning on trying Russian over the winter and always happy to chat and help where required. If you fancy a meal outside the hotel try Theodora's Garden about 10 minutes walk towards town on the same side of the road. Lamb Kleftiko was amazing!

Reception staff were all great - any time of the day there was always a smile and a warm greeting. The rooms were always clean, with towels and sheets changed regularly, and the room maid was always very flexible about cleaning when our 13 year-old decided to have a lay-in!

There are 2 pools on site, one with a couple of slides with their own entry pool plus a children's play pool. All of the pools were always clean. We spent our pool time at the one with the slides, and in the evening spent time at the same pool bar where the evening entertainment happened 3 time a week, so got to know the staff here quite well. They were all very friendly and helpful. During the day, Jan looked after us and in the evening Nikos and Nikolai (coincidentally married to Aliona!) were great hosts. Nikolas in the main hotel bar was friendly and chatty and nothing was ever too much trouble.

As for the beaches, there are a couple of small beaches across the road. We ended up preferring the smaller one linked with the Lychnostatis Open Air Museum, where we enjoyed drinks and food service on the beach at very reasonable cost and service always with a smile. Star Beach is a little further away, but where all the water sports, music etc "happens", including a daily "Foam Party" around 5pm each day.

Overall a great holiday and I would happily stay here again.

My wife and I and our two children (5 & 3) spent 4 nights in this hotel. Before we booked I read mixed reviews, some great and some really bad, but we decided to book at the Hotel Mediterraneo anyhow. We don't easily complain, but I think it is important that we share our experience as it was really not a good one....

Firstly we hired a private villa with its own pool. When we arrived we were booked into the top floor, making it very difficult to use the pool on the bottom floor as a young party group of 8 plus people (villa only take 4 persons) used the bottom floor and completely occupied the pool area. The beds were very old and uncomfortable and the tv remotes did not work. The party group below us played loud music and kept us awake until after 2am with their loud noise. Despite our complaints to security this went on all night. The next day we requested to be moved. We were moved to another villa also on the top floor and assured that a family group were moving in below us. Yet again a group of young guys (more than 4) moved in below us and turned downstairs into a mini "nightclub" all night long and also making the pool almost inadmissable for us and our children...

Secondly, at the returant the dinning area was too small with only a hand full of staff on duty to feed a couple of hundred people at a time. It was almost impossible to find a free and clean set table for the four of us. It felt like a race to get to the fresh food coming out of the kitchen before it was grabbed by the other guests. It reminded us of being a a hostel or boarding school dinning area. The juice was not real orange juice and tasted so watered down that my kids nor I would drink it. The coffee at least was not bad, but it was impossible to get a clean cup to use...Overall the food quality was poor and felt like it was made with the cheapest ingriedients. Needless to say that all our meals from then on were eaten in the town and at tavernas along the beach, despite the fact that we had paid for a "all inclusive" resort. Lastly, the drinks during the day were available, but anything half decent (other than the beer which was quite good) had to be paid for.

On the positive side, the waterslides were great and the kids did enjoy them a lot and the position of the Hotel is great as there is easy access to Stalis beach and the town where we did enjoy the markets as well as the seaside resturants.

Overall, I believe the the hotel is just really understaffed, we saw the same staff on duty for every shift we were there and they looked really tired and burned out. Unless things change at this hotel I would strongly suggest you rather stay and one of the other well know resorts in the area.
