“Lovely family holiday”
Reviewed June 2, 2013

We have just returned from a week at the Arminda and found it excellent compared to other all inclusive hotels we have stayed at in Crete!
The choice and quality of food was very good! Every breakfast there was a chef cooking fresh omelettes and pancakes as well as the usual selection and every dinner time he cooked gyros or grilled chicken or kebabs. Our 5 year old, who is very fussy always managed to find something to eat - and enjoyed it! Plus they even serve chips at breakfast - what's not to love? :)
The snack bar was brilliant, open daily from 9-6, it had a very wide choice of snacks and flavoured ice creams. Perfect for the little ones! So basically with the restaurant and snack bar there is some sort of food available 7:30-21:30 everyday. You won't be going hungry in fact the only thing you will need to worry about is whether the seat belt on the plane on the way home will still fit around you!
Drinks are on tap and you just help yourselves to them, a big range of soft drinks. Not much variety
of alcoholic drink in the all inclusive but if you are after a nice chilled beer by the pool rather than getting drunk everyday then it is perfect. Other alcoholic drinks and cocktails are available to purchase separately. If you are a tea drinker then you will need to take some tea bags with you as the ones provided were not nice.
The rooms are nice, there is a fridge and a hair dryer in them. Probably could do with a kettle. The air con is free and works! They were cleaned everyday.
Wifi is available but you have to pay.
All the staff are very friendly!
My daughter enjoyed the kids club. It is mostly German speaking but they did speak English as well so this wasn't a problem and it actually made my 5 year old want to learn a few words in German.
In my opinion the entertainment level was just right. There was some there if you wanted it but it wasn't in your face. For people looking for 'butlins' type entertainment then this probably wouldn't be the right hotel for you.
British people are definitely in the minority here but we didn't find this a problem as most other people put us to shame by being able to speak our language as well as their own.
Location wise, stallis is the nearest town. A wide selection of tavernas, restaurants and shops. All open late so we tended to go in the evening to avoid the hot sun. It was about a 10/15 minute walk or 7 euros in a taxi.
So to sum up - if you want a holiday where you have English food, people speak to you in English, you want to get drunk everyday and you want cabaret entertainment you would probably need to go to butlins or Spain. If you want a nice chilled holiday where you experience different cultures and food, this hotel is perfect for that!

This was our second visit to the Arminda hotel and spa, and again could not fault it, even though it is all inclusive in a sense, it’s not for people who want to get as much food or drink down your neck, this hotel offers a chilled out atmosphere, basic entertainment on a night, this year I noticed it is geared up for the kids from, 9:00am to 9:00pm who all seemed to enjoy it.
We emailed ahead for a choice of room in the block above the snack bar/pool, and were not disappointed, the reception on booking in was first class, and the staff really friendly, The room we choose was 322 on the second floor, gives panoramic views from Hersonissos on the left to Stallis on the right overlooking the bay, The room is large and airy with fridge, TV and the normal extras,
Mainly used the top pool next to the block, but does get busy so you need to be early with your towels etc., Snack bar opens at 10:00am and Water is free from the cooling machine, just save your empty bottles, There is bottled water to buy, but the cooling machine was fine, no ill effects.
Wi-Fi is available for a small charge, and worked perfect on my kindle fire,
Food, there is plenty of choice, but does tend to repeat itself, good choice on breakfast, and a microwave to reheat, seating is either outside where it is cooler or inside, it is best to collect your knife and forks first with napkins and set your table before getting your food, saves time trying to find a table if busy. Snack bar is well stocked throughout the day with sandwiches, toasties, pasties, fruit and cakes, All drinks on tap so you help yourself, again there is only a choice of 3 spirits to pick from, so advise buying a couple of bottles at the airport if you prefer something with more alcohol in,
No problems with taking drinks, ice and food back to the hotel room, all staff friendly and happy to help you,
If you fancy venturing out taxis were only 7 euros to Hersonissos on the left and to Stallis on the right, normally someone else may be waiting so share to half the cost, getting back it’s just a case of standing near the road and watch for a taxi with its sign lit, and flag it down.
Not many English stay at the hotel mainly east European, but don’t let this put you off visiting here,
Overall a perfect week chilling out and for the price, well worth it,

Room Tip: email ahead if you want in the block next to the top pool

Me and my partner went in may for a week it was a lush hotel but the all inclusive was poor as the bar closed at 11.00 pm and food wise was lovely but I will say it could be better opinion of diffrant stuff. There was a lot if German polish and Russia there but we met some lovely couple from west mainlands and we had a fab week.

Stayed for a week with my family so a mix of ages. The food was brilliant and lots to choose from. Various lemonades and juices. Red and white wine, raki and ouzo but only one beer available though. The rooms are very nice and spacious and gets cleaned every day except sundays. Two nice pools, one kids pool and just 150 meters to a lovely sandy beach. Close to Chersonisos and walking distance from Stalis. Darts, tabletennis, waterpolo, watergym, shuffleboard and kids entertainment every day except saturday. Also various entertainment every evening. Karaoke, casino(poker and roulette), bingo, quiz and dancenight. My Family and I participated in most of it every day and we really enjoyed it. A big thanks to the animation team at Arminda for making our stay extra fun. Thanks Povilas, Vita and Rugile:-)
Would definitely stay again and I think it's really good value for money.

Stayed for a week from 9/5/13-16/05/13, food was good when first arrived then went downhill.Selection of drinks for all inclusive absolutely poor, only one beer available which is like water, only spirits are Uzo and something else. No entertainment really on a night . Would not recommend it for a all inclusive holiday on a budget holiday you need to spend money to enjoy yourself

When we arrived we were shown to the dining room where a cold supper and wine and beer were waiting which was very nice after no food on the flight and a longish journey, you may be one of the last to be dropped off but it takes about 30 to 40 mins transfer. Nicely located hotel if you want peace and quiet there are no loud bars or discos to disturb you. It is a nice walk if you turn left down into a local town and Hersonissos is about a thirty minute walk the other way turning right out of the hotel. Staff were friendly and attentive, buffet was nice and varied but we only stayed a week , free beer and wine all day and evening local firewater free also but you have to pay for cocktails or premium spirits , wine and beer is ok local stuff. Rooms are nice quite spacious even more so are the family rooms , marble bathroom shower worked fine, maids don't hassle you to get out to clean and generally do it while you are at breakfast. Very good omelette station at breakfast made for you should u wish, but do not expect a British fry up, they cater for the whole of Europe but provide a cooked and cold selection of breakfast . There are 2 pools one quiet and the other more lively, plenty of sunbirds and a spa if the ladies want a little pampering. Kids entertainment basic but regular and darts and table tennis and water polo for the adults but not much evening entertainment. Would definitely stay again and thought it fair value for money.

Room Tip: Not sure how as allocated on arrival.

We stayed in the Arminda with family so a mix of ages, Mum and partner pensioners us mid 40's our kids in their 20's and the grandkids aged 4 and 6 years. The staff at The Arminda were friendly enough and the kids loved the couple that ran the kids club. However, the all inclusive food option was ok some days but generally none exciting, the drink option was poor with only offering wine (drinkable but dont get excited) and ouzo, metaxa, lager and raki (fire water lol).. any other spirit or drink had to be purchased and it wasnt cheap. The rooms were comfortable and a nice size. The evening entertainment was by the same kids entertainers and was pretty desperate really... not what you would stay on complex for. Luckily about a 20-30 min walk takes you into Hersonissos where there are lots of bars and restaurants.

Room Tip: ask for a pool view they're probably the best rooms
