It was out first time visiting this hotel and visting Crete in general and we would recommend this hotel to everyone. The first thing we noticed was the cleanliness of the hotel, it was spotless everywhere. We had a room at the top of the hill to start with however we asked to be moved as it was a long walk, however they then added a second car halfway through our week which was a very good idea. I would always suggest trying to get a room nearer the bottom of the hill but when you get used to it the hill isn't as bad as you first think.

The rooms are nothing special, yet i think thats standard with most hotels, they where clean and comfortable. The maids did a great job and i would like to thank them as our room was spotless everyday, even if i did leave clothes lieing about!

We where half board, which at first we regretted as it seemed everyone was all inclusive. However with neither of us big drinkers, the extra expense isn't worth it. The drinks from the shop are great value and we would of spent far more money if was all inclusive as half board is a lot better value for money in my eyes. I would reccomend that to all, you have a fridge in your room to keep cans of beer or coke etc...The staff are quite happy to let you drink, drinks from the shop by the pool also.

As half board we only went for Breakfast and Tea, so i am unsure on the lunch menu. However breakfast was brilliant, variation wasn't brilliant if you was there for two weeks, but the quality of it made it so that you didn't really care! It was always fresh to which is something you don't get abroad sometimes. Tea had more variation and it was excellent, even if they did seem to run out of profiteroles before i got to them! Lunch times there is a bar by the bottom pool which served lunch very cheaply, we was pleasantly surprised by prices.

Last but not least i would like to talk about Animation team who made this holiday brilliant. There are three pools so if your not interested in activities you can go elsewhere and they will leave you alone if you don't want to take part, even if they wouldn't leave me alone! Despite numerous attempts to drown me, Stefan and the rest of the animation team where brilliant. The activities where good fun and it was always a laugh, even if i am competitive! The entertainment on the nights was also done by the animation team, and they where always funny and entertaining. So thanks to Stefan, Agnes, Luca and Janine for making it a great holiday!

Room Tip: Ask for a room around the quiet pool or the main pool mainly as you won't have to walk up the hill and if you don't get one just ask to move at reception and they will always accomodate you.

Just about to leave the Grand Hotel in Crete, I must say it has been a fabulous experience all round. We have met some lovely people during our stay, and have collected some wonderful holiday memories with many thanks to the warm friendliness of the staff 'Nikos and Nicolas' here at the Grand Hotel.

We booked 7 nights AI with a sunny middle floor balcony room, the rooms are basic but accommodate all of your holiday needs. The Grand Hotel is 4* though I would say it should be on a par with a 5* hotel.

Would I stay at the Grand Hotel again? YES

Would I recommend the Grand Hotel to a friend? YES

Did I enjoy 100% of my holiday? YES

Big thank you to all the Grand Hotel staff.

This is the second year we've been back to the hotel and still love the place. It has everything you need for a great holiday. There are 4 outdoor pools. The main one where the animation team work hard to keep you entertained throughout the day with a range of activities, we particularly liked the boccia and water volleyball. However, if you don't want to take part they don't pester you. There is then the relaxation (adult) pool which is for over 16's. There is a pool at the top of the hill which is more for children and has a couple of little slides. This year they have also built a new pool which has 4 larger waterslides and lifeguards. To create this they have developed the land where they previously had the beach volleyball court and 5 a side pitch, However I think more people use the slides than the previous facilities so it was a good move and we loved them!

We stayed on a half board basis which unless you're a big drinker I think is the best option, though they do also offer an all inclusive option. The breakfast and evening meals were excellent and we always found plenty of food we liked. We also did one night in the Italian restaurant for a change. This was also very good and nice for a change.

The hotel is built on a hill and if you are at the top then it is a bit steep. However there is a transfer car available by the relaxation pool which will take you up to the top of the hill. However, knowing from previous reviews that the hotel was on a hill both this year and last I emailed the hotel and asked for a room overlooking the main pool with a sea view. Both times this request has been fulfilled and so we didn't have to worry about the hill.

The staff at the hotel are always friendly and remember your regular orders etc and this year some of the staff remembered us from last year which was nice, as it shows they really take an interest in the guest. Special shout outs to Ionna in the lounge bar and Aggy in the animation team.

All in all it is a great hotel, incredible clean with great staff...and I am sure we will return again!

Room Tip: If you have mobility problems email the hotel before you travel and request a room at the bottom of the hill.

Spent a week at the Grand Hotel in July. On arrival we were immediately invited to leave the suit cases by reception and go straight for lunch. The food was always good with quite a large variety on offer. The staff all spoke good English and were always friendly and helpful. In particular the food in the Pizzeria and A La Carte restaurants, a night at which is included in the all inclusive package was excellent. The hotel and room were always spotlessly clean and there were sufficient sunbeds around the three pools. The location of the hotel is good as it is close to midway between the resorts of Hersonossis and Stalida and the buses, with a stop at the front of the hotel, were very frequent and the service cheap and easily used. There was a beach suitable for swimming and snorkelling about a 5 minute walk away. A small thing to note would be some rooms are up a steep hill and this may be difficult for elderly people etc however a free car transfer service was provided during the day from the main pool just behind reception to your room which was very useful. Overall I had a great holiday here and would highly recommend the hotel to anyone visiting Crete.

Just back from a very relaxing 1week holiday here, hotel very clean with loads to do. 3 big pools, kids slides and bigger slides for adults. Staff very helpful and friendly, food good with a huge variety on offer. Pizzeria and a la carte restaurants delicious, we were all inclusive and felt it was great value for money. Spa lovely with outdoor massages by the pool, very cheap and extremely relaxing. Hotel a little further out of town than expected, but the buses provide a great service and very cheap with pick up straight outside the hotel. Beach a 10 min walk with water sports etc we would definitely go back.

Room Tip: Pool view rooms best, we had one right at the top of a steep hill, not good for those with back problems
