“We loved Bellos!”
Reviewed August 13, 2014

Have just got back from a wonderful fortnight at Bellos. Just like the last reviewer, we arrived late on a Tuesday night after the BBQ evening had finished and we were quickly greeted, checked-in then shown to our room by Maria. We were then given a Ploughman's-style meal and drinks on the house which we ate sitting by the pool and we felt thoroughly pleased to have arrived at such a welcoming and lovely hotel!

During the first couple of nights in our apartment, we had some trouble with the air-conditioning. The staff were very helpful and got electricians in to look at the problem. When the problem continued after having done some work on it, we were offered a different apartment, so we moved to Room 11 which had views over the lower pool with the slides. It was also a little bigger, so we were quite happy.

We ate half-board. The breakfasts were fine, with plenty of cooked bacon, eggs, etc or cereals, teas, coffee, juices. There were tinned peaches and delicious Greek yoghurt. It would perhaps have been nice to have some fresh fruit at breakfast. The evening meals were delicious and we thoroughly enjoyed dining al-fresco upstairs, on the balcony overlooking the mountains and the pool. Every evening there was a soup and salad selection. ( I loved having a Greek salad with yummy feta and olives). There was a good selection of main meals with something to suit everyone in our family. My particular favourites were the calamari and moussaka. For dessert there was either watermelon or another choice e.g. chocolate mousse, lemon mousse or a Greek yoghurt-style dessert.

BBQ night was good fun with plentiful meats, salads and jacket potatoes. We then enjoyed the Greek dancing which was a lot of fun.

The one night we ate out for our anniversary, we went to a restaurant recommended to us in Piskopiano, called 'David's'. It was meze style food, with lots of little plates of calamari, keftedes and dolmades (stuffed vine leaves), etc. It was an enjoyable and reasonably-priced meal. Piskopiano at the top of the hill was a lovely evening walk, as was Koutouloufari. We also visited Old Chersonissos on Monday evening to see the Greek dancing. Down the hill, Hersonissos made for a slightly livelier evening out with plenty of bars, shops, etc. We made the most of going for evening strolls as by day in the heat of the August sun, we didn't move much from our loungers!

The children enjoyed the pool with the slides which kept them entertained and we also relaxed by the top pool, where the loungers are on a pretty grassed area.

What we really loved about Bellos is how it is a little smaller and quieter than other hotels we've stayed at. There is no cheesy mini disco every evening or over-loud entertainment. The staff are very attentive and friendly. Our thanks to Eric, Maria, Mr Bellos and all the other staff we met during our holiday. We may very well be back - perhaps Easter/October next time when the weather is a little cooler.

We arrived very late (midnight) on the barbecue night - we were greatly greeted by Eric with a very easy check -in and shown to our room by maria. We left our bags in the room and returned to the bar to be given drinks on the house and they even made us pizza and chips! room was basic but cleaned every day and bedding changed at least four times. Slides at the bottom pool are brilliant and kept the kids entertained all day. Alex "the pool bar man" is a great guy and gave us lots of island information - he never got sick of the kids either. Barbecue night was great and the food was very good with Greek dancing for all to join in. A walk of about 15 min to hersonissos port where there are loads of restaurants, but we liked the 10 min walk to piskopiana (call at carpe diem -sofias bar) for drinks - great couple, then either 5mins walk to koutouloufari or opposite way 15 min to old chersonisos - Monday night is Greek night. We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday meeting lots of lovely people and will return one day. Thankyou to all staff at bellos.

Just returned from Bellos after a fantastic 2 week holiday.
Our room was a 1 bedroom apartment and was large with ample storage, The bathroom had been recently renovated too. Kitchenette was fully functioning with kettle toaster etc.
The restaurant was fantastic, we eat up there on about 6 occasions and each time the food was perfect and priced similar to restaurants out and about.
Two pools, both nice and one has the water slides. No problems here with sunbeds, you can get them at any time.
Mr Bellos spoke to us each evening and always wanted to make us very welcome.
The staff here are all brilliant at what they do, Alex at the lower pool bar such a nice guy and keeps on smiling all day. Thannos and Gretta always so professional, helpful and polite.
But I really have to send huge praises to Marija in the restaurant and later on in the bar as she is so kind, nothing is too much trouble for her and she makes you all feel special.
Lastly has to be my new friend Eric, He is a fantastic man and I enjoyed his company most nights. He is very special to Bellos and really did make our holiday.
Hi to all the other families we met while there, wish we were still there :(
Would we return? ........... Yes 1000000 percent

Room Tip: All rooms are good, Room 22 looks out over both pools though ;)

Loved the resort, it was clean and friendly and suited all age groups, the food was fine and the two pools were brilliant - my 7yr old had difficulty choosing which one she was going in each day, and she loved the pool slides! The resort was convenient for the town and beach but it was a bit of a walk down to it all - and walking back up was a killer in the heat, but there were taxis available if you wanted one. Traditional Greek tavernas and villages are near by, once again a bit of a walk or a taxi ride!
The town was thriving and there are lots of shops and beach restaurants and even a McDonald's for those with children! The beach wasn't a traditional sandy beach it was all shingle and there were rocks and pebbles in the sea which made paddling a bit painful but it could be done. The nearest white sandy beach was a taxi or bus ride away, but if you got on the little tourist road train you could go to one of the better parts of the beach on there and catch another one back when you were ready (they were very frequent and ran all day) this was for €10 adults and €8 children and you got €2 discount on your next trip. They also do a sight seeing trip into the hills with a few stops and a traditional Greek restaurant for about €20 which we thoroughly enjoyed!

All I all it was a lovely holiday, very hot but you could do as little or as much as you wanted and as the resort had it's own shop you didn't need to move far from the pool if you didn't want to!

Just returned from 2 weeks at Bellos- what a superb holiday!
The complex itself is not too big and there is plenty of space, even now in peak season. The staff are amazing and very friendly-especially Alex at the bar by the pool with the slides serving cold beers and milk shakes all day!
The apartments are basic but very clean, the cleaner came in every day. We had a 1 bed apartment with a new bathroom which was lovely and the shower was hot every day.
We didn't eat much in the hotel apart from the BBQ (a bit expensive but a very nice).
The hotel is maybe a little out of the way for some but walking up the hill to any of the towns is well worth it- some excellent meals to be had in any of the villages.
Enjoy-am very jealous of anyone who is going to Bellos- we wish we could go back!

Just returned from 2 weeks at the Bellos after previously holidaying there the year before. .Travelled with my family and had a thoroughly relaxing time .The staff and management can not do enough for you and make you so welcome .Nothing is too much trouble for them .Excellent food in the restaurant as good as I sampled while away. If you want a holiday where you are not fighting for a sun bed every morning with plenty of space ,this is for you .Two pools ,one with slides and the main one with a grassed area, which is the quieter of the two.

Looking forward to returning again next year.
