“Perfect place!”
Reviewed July 7, 2013 via mobile

My boyfriend and I have just returned from a weeks stay at this hotel. We booked a superior room and found it to be clean and modern with a nice large bathroom with a bath. There was also plenty of storage for clothes with two large fitted wardrobes with floor length mirrors. Our balcony was also large but was one of the only rooms without a divide between ours and next doors balcony, but we didn't mind too much! The food was fantastic especially having it cooked by the chef in front of you! There were also plenty of sunbeds and we were lucky to have one of the cushioned ones every day. The staff are fantastic, especially at breakfast and around the pool bar. The hotel is located in a fantastic location, plenty of bars and cafes and the beach was also only 20m away. Take a trip to one of the water parks while you are there and also have lunch by the sea in blue bay cafe bar! The view is lovely. All in all I couldn't have wished for a better holiday!!

Nice hotel, close to the beach, good food- we had half-board.To enjoy at maximum this hotel you must book a superior room because the standard rooms are more like 2 star.Good entertainment at the pool in the evening, enjoy good cocktails at the pool.Good quiet location.

Room Tip: Only the superior rooms are a 4 star.

My partner and I visited this hotel for the first time, arriving on 15th June. The staff were really friendly and pleasant. The food in the restaurant was excellent with an array of fresh local Cretan dishes. We were in the old part of the hotel and the room was spotlessly clean if not a little small in the bathroom. Hersonissos is a lively resort with lots to do for all ages. Catch the local bus to Aghios Nicholaos which is around 8 euros and well worth a trip. All in all we had a fab time and would definitely return.

Room Tip: Upgrade to a superior room if possible.

Visited this 4* hotel in early June 2013. The first thing you MUST know about this hotel is that it is in two parts. The normal rooms in the older reception building and the superior rooms in the two new wings overlooking the pool. We had booked the superior rooms and were delighted with what we found. A superb room with pool view (I think they all have pool view, or most) with fridge, tv etc and a very pleasant feel to it altogether. Met up with a few people who had booked the normal rooms and they said that they were very basic and certainly not 4*. One couple complained so much about them that they moved them across the road into a bigger apartment (they took us in to show us it) but very old and dull and not what you'd expect of 4* accommodation. We'd have been very upset if we had ended up here too.
The hotel bar area and pool is excellent and the food is very good and varied with a chef cooking for you on the spot every night pasta etc. The staff were brilliant too!!
So, if you're thinking of coming to visit this hotel, PLEASE book the superior rooms for a great holiday. You have been warned.
The resort itself has nothing in the way of entertainment for anybody over 30 though so please take a book. There are lots of pubs along the front (a few with boom boom music for 16 year olds) but there's nothing for anybody else, I'm afraid except very quiet pubs.
So, overall I loved the hotel, the hotel food, the bar, the pool and everything else about the hotel (Superior Rooms, I'm talking about), but would I go back to Hersonissos?
No, because I was bored after about three days and was glad I was only there for 7 days.

Hotel score 18 out of 20. (Superior Rooms). As I said, book a normal room at your peril.
Resort (Boring) score 7 or 8 out of 20.

Room Tip: You must must must must must must book a Superior Room!!!

Upon arrival me and my partner were made to feel welcome by the friendly receptionist and this set the tone for our whole stay, from the cleaners right up to the owners they all seemed to take real pride in their respective roles. The hotel is very well managed, superb dining with a wide choice of fresh food fit for a king. This hotel is spotless and the pool is immaculate. Nice tunes in the background along with the sun and any drinks you desire makes ensuring you get your sun loungers by the pool a must, but for you beach bums the two minute walk to the beach will not disappoint. All restaurants and bars are along this beach. We had to try the spa and had a 55 minute massage with olive oils ( make sure your meal has digested before trying this!).This is guaranteed to tick all the boxes. We look forward to coming back to this perfect gem.

Room Tip: Specify 'Superior' rooms to be allocated rooms in the new part of the complex.

My husband and myself stayed at the Albatros Hotel May 28th for a week, this is our second holiday at the hotel, we enjoyed our first stay and the second one was fantastic, the staff are very friendly and helpful. I am a fussy eater but the food was excellent with so much choice. I would recomend the Albatros Hotel to everyone, it is amazing.

Room Tip: choose the superior rooms if possible fantastic views

Absolutely appalling service from beginning to end; I’m sure the average client at ‘Albatros’ could just about get by if they were lucky enough to get through their stay without having to interact too much with the staff or without having problems with your room.
However if you aren’t so lucky, which you probably won’t be as walking around the hotel you can often catch the grumbles of other guests, you’re in for a treat.
If something goes wrong within a hotel I’d expect an apology, perhaps a little compensation, a drink on the house or maybe a smile? Instead we were met with casual racism, negligence and quite frankly aggressive behavior.
We arrived on our week’s holiday to escape the daily arguments with our broadband supplier, sloppy service in the local café, moody shop operatives and general hard slog day in day out. We didn’t pay for a re-run in the sun of all of these things just in a different language.
The standard rooms are advertised with a picture of a superior room, so on arrival we were given something not even a 100th as good as the picture, the spacious modern room we had seen was substituted with a small boxy room with broken air conditioning and a shower that ran cold, (we later were told ‘of course the water doesn’t work after 9pm, the heating is solar powered’ so of course on a cloudy day there was no hot water to speak of).
So, as I mentioned we had some problems with the staff. The rooms are advertised with WiFi, so, after upgrading to the Superior room at a huge premium, we found that this WiFi was at a cost of 3 Euros an hour and the WiFi in our room was broken. We asked nicely from our room, and we were hung up on several times.
Eventually they sent someone to install a router at a cost of 30 euro who left without installing it leaving the door open behind him and never came back... On going down to reception we were told that the staff are “not our servants” and that “this isn’t one of your colonies”. All I asked for is to send an important work email and I get verbal abuse, this was the peak of a 24hour ordeal.
On top of this my partner had sun stroke and so brought some water to dinner, this was confiscated from us despite her being ill as we were half board.. no water at all is provide or can be consumed with out paying 2.5 Euros a time.
If you’re even still reading at this point I’m sure you’ll understand the quality of the hotel by this point, there’s more though. There’s some poolside entertainment, which is usually rather pleasant in most hotels. This was not, the noise levels were unnecessarily loud, really I run events and for a family hotel until 11pm the noise levels were unacceptable. Thereafter I was left listening to children still crying from a disturbed sleep once the noise had been shut off.
All in all a really poor experience, of and we asked for a double and a bath and got a single and a broken shower, the only reason we got anything different was for paying that hefty premium, and then of course the 9pm hot water curfew made a 8pm bath time seem a little forced, hurrying back from dinner so we didn’t miss it was more like being at boarding school rather than on holiday.
This hotel is really tight, expect to be charged, for everything, oh and the spa- 20 Euro for 25mins in the Jacuzzi… Great.
