Irene Village Hotel

where do i start we have just come back from irene village hersonissos having been there 2 weeks we booked this so called all-inclusive 2 weeks with lowcost holidays .before we booked my husband rang lowcost to ask about the all-inclusive in the hotel irene village to be told that there where snacks icecream and all drinks as we were taking our two youngest children aged 8 and 14 we wanted to be sure it was all in the price, lowcost told us that yes there are snacks, yes there are icecreams and all drinks which are all included in our price, having used lowcost last year with out a hitch we took what they said as gospel and booked our 2 weeks all-inclusive there.
omg what a huge mistake upon arrival at 10.45pm greek time we had missed any kind of drink on the all-inclusive but i knew the all-in finished at 10pm and we had had a long day so got our bands and our key and went sleep ,the next morning we went down for breakfast which was cheap cerial bread jam peachs yoghurt salad and some kind of meat we was soon to find out that it was exactly the same every day of our stay no variation at all, we then noticed the drinks what were on the all-inclusive which was tea coffee fizzy cola, lemon, orange, hot chocolate and as for alcohol that was 1 type of beer, brandy, raki or wine the meals at dinner and evening where unedible it was that bad we ate out nearly every mealtime costing us an absalute fortune ontop of what we paid for the holiday there was only 2 maybe 3 choices so if u dint like it u could only have bread with no butter and salad!! totally disgusted they try and call this all-inclusive its more like fullboard!!!!! there was no snacks at all!!! the icecreams had to be paid for at 2euro 50 cent per icecream ,they do not like the english there we had a group of dutch 20 year old lads constantly picking on my 8 year old son who was trying to learn to swim they thought it would be fun to pick on him for nothing!!!! the complex itself is pretty all in whitewash and clean and the apartment was nice and big with 2 balconys it got cleaned every 3rd day and the cleaners work so hard from early till late one morning it was the cleaners who had to put breakfast out as the managers hadnt bothered to turn up to do it themselves and every1 was complaining.the pool is deffo not big enough for the amount of ppl who stay here so thank god for starbeach which was a free water park over the road which is where we went everyday the kids totally loved it there i will NEVER go back to irene village and am in the process of complaining to lowcost for totally lieing and misleading us when booking our holiday!!!!!THE ONLY THINGS GETTING ALL-INCLUSIVE HERE ARE THE ANTS THE MOZZYS AND THE SPIDERS!!!!!

We stayed here from the 21st July till the 31st July 2013. Can't fault it from the minute we arrived and were met by Alex and Mike, A nice spacious apartment that its cleaned every 2 days. Food is brought fresh for each meal time and you do get choice but not enough for my fussy daughter and no chips!!! Star beach is 5 minutes away and a good choice of beaches further on. Central for the shops and town for meals with plenty of choice. Ignore the negative reviews, not 5 star but friendly and good value for the money. I would definitely stay here again!

I stayed here with my sister and her family from the 23-30th July and what a lovely stay I had. Wasn't sure what to expect as there were a few negtive reviews on here, but was pleasantly surprised. The rooms were spacious and very clean (maids came every other day to change bedding and towels). The staff were excellent. Mike, Alex and the rest of the staff could not do enough for you. Had a cold glass of beer waiting for me for when I arrived.
The hotel is opposite Star Beach so about a 5 minute walk to go there, or there is plenty of beds around the pool. Only thing that I would say let it down a bit was the food. I enjoyed most of it, but there wasn't much for fussy kids to eat and my niece lived on pasta and cake for most of the holiday. Other than that I could not fault the hotel at all and would definitely return again!

We were booked at the hotel by our Greek agent. We were told that it is a 4 stars self-catering hotel. The self-catering part is right, the 4 stars not so.
The "hotel" is located at the edge of Chersonisos, which means that you need to walk about half an hour to town or take a taxi.
The place is filthy; the shower did not have a door closing it or a curtain – all the water spelt out to the floor. The bathroom had no soap at all. Only 1 roll of toilet paper and towels that have seen better days.
The beds were rock stiff. The windows had no anti-insects nets, so we were eaten by mosquitos each night. The air-conditioner works on a separate remote control which you have to pay for as an additional service.
The room was on the street, so we had to choose staying with the curtains closed and suffocating from the heat. Or, opening the curtains and forget from our privacy.
The only thing that did work was the small refrigerator in the kitchenette. There was no soap to wash the dishes, no kettle to boil water – only electric cookers, so if we wanted to make coffee or tea, we would have to put a pot of water to cook.
Of the 2 nights that we stayed there (before running away), we had 2 encounters with cockroaches.
The public areas of the place are not really safety: the stairs are steep and have no railing to grab on to. There is hardly any light during the night, so walking out can be risky – falling down the stairs.
The pool apparently wasn't clean. My friend went in for an hour and later on had a skin infection.
There is no reception or a place that you can get information. Everything is run by the poolside (that's where you can get free wifi too). The bartender is also the hotel clerk and the cook and the cleaner and… well, everything.
To conclude: worst experience ever. As my friend said – even in the most remote hostels in South America, I didn't get such a bad feeling and wasn't eaten up by mosquitos like that.
We recommend: 1. carefully choose your Greek agent – ours didn't give a dam about us, just left us to rot. 2. Keep clear from the Irene Village (unless you come with your camping gear).
We will not be back and we will not use the services of the Greek agent again.

Room Tip: Stay away from the Irene Village hotel.

It was mid August 2011 and we were here for two weeks. On first impressions, we found this complex was built in the style of a "mini greek village" with several blocks of 2 storey high apartments painted in the traditional colours of blue and white with a reasonable sized swimming pool. However, there are only two staff members who work here - one on a day shift and the other doing the evening/night shift but apart from running the bar area, they literally do nothing else. With no reception and no management around, your keys, safes, enquiries etc are all dealt with at the bar. By day you are greeted by a lovely young lady called Marilena who is a brilliant staff member and a credit to this etablishment. She was so friendly and helpful to us and as we were staying in the apartment right above the bar overlooking the pool, she would shout up every morning when she arrived to say hello. We got so friendly with her that we looked forward to seeing her each day and she gave us great advice on places to visit on the crete island. However, the guy who replaced her in the late afternoon couldnt have been more opposite. Firstly, he clearly pointed out to us that he didnt like the English, yet he was quite happy to take our money at the bar. And to our amazement, to say he didnt like the UK as a nation, he bazarrly used our language to chat up the swedish girls!!!!! He constantly moaned about the economic crisis and blamed the UK for not helping out his country!!!! He was rude and arrogant and didnt care about anyone but himself. As we were the only English people staying at this complex his attitude forced us to stop going to the bar in the evenings. This was such a contrast from how we were treated by Marilena in the day. We didnt come on holiday to be treated as outsiders as we just wanted to have a nice break and relax. Apart from that, the accomodation was spacious enough and cleaned regularly with fresh towels. The rooms though are very basic and the air conditioning was very expensive too. Being so far in the southern meditteranean its extremely hot here and when nightfall arrived it was mosquito party time so go prepared otherwise you will be bitten. Excursions are expensive as well, so we only managed to go on four trips, two of which were to the fanatstic waterparks which are amazing. There are not many beaches around as this is a rocky island so definately take some sea shoes with you if you want to go swimming. And if you go self catering like us, take plenty of money with you as bread is around £3, milk about £2, and cheese nearly a fiver!!! and this was in the supermarkets!!! It roughly costs around £60 to eat out per couple at a descent restaraunt by night so again take plenty of cash. In summary, my advice is dont stay at this complex if you're british, take lots of spending money with you, make sure you pack some sea shoes and bring as much mosquito protection as you can!!!!
