A great holiday in a very clean hotel with friendly hard working staff and management. I have to agree with several others on Trip Advisor that this is not a 5 star by international standards I would rate it as a very good 3 star plus or a basic 4 star but that said I am not a professional hotel inspector just an experienced holiday taker.

Despite asking we were only given one key to the room which is annoying when you want to go off on your own. Also you couldn't get a packed lunch unless you booked your trip through the hotel. No dress code for the restaurant which with a majority of Balkan guests lowered the tone. Food very good (the Chef does wonders with powdered mash potato, powdered eggs and mince) would have liked to see more potatoes instead of Fries with the evening meal but it is difficult to cater for all tastes. These are difficult times financially and cuts have to be made in all walks of life, that said people going to a 5 star hotel expect high standards and also expect to pay for them.

On the plus side, room and public areas spotless at all times, towels and sheets changed every day. On our first night there was no hot water we informed reception and that was fixed very rapidly, on our second day my wife had a bath and the bathroom flooded when she pulled the plug, this was also fixed within a couple of hours. I found both the pool bar out the back and the main pool bar staff to be hard working and friendly, entertainment was a bit hit and miss in 11 nights we had Karaoke twice, a quick change artist once and Greek dancing once on other nights just the bar speakers playing a Greek radio station.

The drinks are strong enough (you quite often find in all inclusive that they are very weak) would have liked fruit juice but only available at a charge. Vodka and Fanta just doesn't hit the spot.

All in all not a 5 star but a very pleasant hotel with good food, drink and facilities. The location is right on the beach and a very varied night-life strip, you must be able to find something to your tastes. If you want quiet go to the Know bar (allied to the hotel) and you will get 20% discount and great comfortable surroundings and a wacky barman/manager.

A big thank you to the staff for some good holiday memories

Room Tip: We asked for a high level room but got one next to the pool it was just fine, looking at the surrounding area I think a pool view is about the best you will get. Also on ground floor you are not hindered by waiting for lifts.

Dear Guests,
We really do appreciate taking your time and sharing your experience in our hotel.
It is possible in a hotel with very high occupancy, in rooms or common area can be temporary damages or problems but as soon as they are reported, our team takes control the earliest and with a very short time everything is in the right order. You experienced that, after any report, solution was provided.
Concerning the lunch basket issue, we strictly allow to be taken away in three long trips only because of the demand of the tour operators. Our policy is not to provide any lunch box which remains outside the fridge under average temperature over 30 degrees Celsius; we consider it extremely dangerous. Remark; the hotel is not organizing any trips or excursions.
Know bar is our a la carte restaurant by the beach with high standard service and gourmet food. We provide a discount coupon to all of our guests and we really feel happy when the guests decide to visit the place because we strongly believe that it is worthwhile. Just take a quick view on our web site www.hersotels.gr . We would like to inform you that we also organize special events, even weddings ceremonies at Know Bar. It is considered an ideal place; we have already organized successfully ceremonies.

Just got back from 2 weeks at the Hersonissos Palace. From the minute we got there till we left we were treated very well by the staff and management. We booked into the main hotel and did not experience the annexe side at all so i can not comment on that. We arrived very late the first evening and were given a very warm welcome by the pool staff. George, Pedro and another guy(sorry cant remember his name) At gone midnight we were offered plates of food and drink. Those boys work extremely hard to ensure your stay is a pleasure as do all the staff, the waiters, reception staff and the chambermaids-please do not forget them when tipping. in fact if you tip from the start you will be looked after very well. Although i have to say they so appreciate please and thank yous-not a lot to ask but you would be surprised how very few do to the point its embarrassing the lack of some peoples holiday/social skills. Hotel was always clean, clean room and towels every day, food was good and always plenty of choice and continually topped up. Even fussy eaters would find something im sure. Not a huge amount of entertainment but there are bars after bars after bars only 10mins walk away-which we did not hear any noise from once in hotel. Pool gets quite packed but you're only a stones throw away from plenty of beaches which in my opinion are nicer to go to. We didnt go to the hotel to stay there and do nothing else but if thats what you want then it's fine to do that. I wouldn't say it was overly child friendly but for older kids/teenagers-fantastic. The hotel is in the hub of it all but peacefull inside. Shop around for bike/car hire, don't buy the cheap 4 perfume for 10 euros unless you want to use for air freshener. Its a fab place for a base as we explored most days. The only down side for me was some of the disrespectful guests. Ladies be prepared to be stared at and your menfolk to be drooled over by nubile shallow Russian females who have no respect for themselves or any one else. Smile sweetly and raise your glass is my advice:) The gym isn't much cop either for hardened gym goers there is however a decent gym in the main street called flex(my partners tip).
Over all hotel is recommended and we would definately use again. But please do not forget the extremely hard working staff. And if you're going soon take some decent dark chocolate for head barman George-he's worth it. Hope you enjoy as much as we did.

Room Tip: We had room 205-good location no noisy A/C and quiet all round

Towards to the end of the season it is highly appreciated the good comments about the hotel and our job.
Your review gives us more power to continue working harder for your benefit and remain alert for providing better service and facilities to our guests. Thank you for recognizing the efficiency and quality of our work. All good comment will be passed to my team.
We are sorry that some guests made you felt uncomfortable but we all need to understand that different nationalities have different culture and attitude. This could lead to misunderstandings. In a hotel with varied nations this kind of misunderstanding can be occurred.
We are expecting you next year and we would like to ensure you that we will be improved in all points.

Hotel reception very impressive then we were lead to our room which had not been cleaned properly, the beds are very hard, view not that great as we looked out onto the road and some empty rubble land then another set of hotels though this is not the hersonnisos fault (if you do book ask for a poolside view room)
Both pools spotlessly clean and tidy
Food buffet menu was excellent, fresh and plenty of choices salads pasta chips meats you wouldn't starve
Drinks the usual beer/spirits/wine but the coke/sprite mixer always tasted flat and only a choice of four cocktails and one of them is for children
Staff nice and friendly except the odd one or two (same as anywhere)
Disappointed the lounge bar was never open you had to sit round the pool bar of an evening in the most uncomfortable chairs
If I was to return I don't think this hotel is worth all inclusive with the drinks choices and such a busy resort in walking distance
All in all would I return yes as half board no as all inclusive ... sorry Hersonissos Palace

Room Tip: Ask for a pool view floors 3 or 4

We stayed between the 11th & 18th September. Arrived at the hotel at about 10.30pm together with friends. No problems checking in. I had requested flowers in my friends room as she was due to celebrate her birthday and these were beautiful. We then went to the bar where we requested drinks, my husband ordering 2 beers and a spirit and our friend ordering the same. However, when 2 of us went back to the bar we were asked if we had finished our drinks, when we said no we were told we couldn't have another drink until we had finished! We duly drank down our drinks and rejoined the queue at about 10.55. I reached the front and was served, but would the barman would only give me one drink for myself and not one for my friend who was stood at the side of me as he said it was after 11pm and AI had finished! Not very welcoming.

We found the rooms comfortable and very clean, however I do agree the beds were very hard. The air conditioning was extremely useful as we had arrivided during a period of very high temperatures, which was a bonus.

The food was good, I could always find something enjoyable (I put on 5lbs whilst away!) and cannot agree with other reviews saying that the fruit was brown. The grapefruit at breakfast was very sweet and juicy and everything was fresh and hot.

Our other "down" incident was when one of the barmen mistook my friend for another guest who had ordered drinks after 11pm the previous night and then refused to pay for them. He shouted at her and everyone could hear him around the pool bar. My friend became very upset about this and together with what had happened on our first night felt she was being targeted and really wanted to go home. However, we both went to see the manageress (Fortini) who was fantastic and extremely upset and annoyed that this had happened and said she would speak to the man responsible. She also invited the four of us to be her guests at the barbecue that week. This turned out to be a wonderful evening, we were treated like royalty by the manager of the restaurant and his team. We were also given photographs of the evening as an extra thank you. To round off the evening they presented my friend with a beautiful birthday cake and champange and the band came over and sang "Happy Birthday". All in all this was a wonderful experience.

Would I go back? Yes I would! It is a lovely hotel, very clean, the food is good and the pool area is gorgeous and we were always able to get a sunbed! There is plenty to do near the hotel with lots of bars and restaurants, but most of the time we did stay at the hotel.

just came back from a week at this hotel,we knew we were staying in the annexes ,which are not beside this hotel but are closer to the beach, at first i was very sceptical about these but having stayed in these we had nothing to worry about, infact i quite enjoyed the luxury of self catering facilities and the peace/quiet of these apartments, there was nothing to worry about afterall, saying that our airconditioning didnt work, the tv wouldnt tune in, the fan in the bathroom didnt work but they were fixed within 1 day.
il now tell you about the hotel:
THE BARS; one of which wasnt open due to the time of year i think we were stook at the poolside for drinks, only 1 drink at a time to be got per person, and at 10.30 barman would collect glasses so for the last half hour 1 barman served, hence queues.
THE ENTERTAINMENT; what entertinment, we were there 1 wk saw 2 venues 1 was ok the other well i wont say, it needs to be addressed, but do russians need entertainment because this hotel caters for every russian need.
THE FOOD; lots of variety, salads, vegetarian, 2 meats at every meal and pasta, only thing wrong is it to cater again for the balkan countries.
overall this was a good hotel but could be great with a few tweaks, both bars shouldve been open if it is available and nighttime entertaiment couldve been better, the food wouldve been fantastic if only the chef didnt put the same old herb in everything he cooked
LOCATION; couldnt have been better right near the beach,
this hotel had a sauna, indoor pool, and a gym all of which werent open when we were there maybe this is what gives it the stars not what it should be

Dear Guests, thank you for taking time to write a review. It is good to see you enjoyed your time in the Annexe and appreciated the facilities we provide. At this time of the season some equipment doesn’t work as it should but you did report this to reception and as you say, it was dealt with as quickly as possible. We have to have a policy at the bar of one drink per person because of guests taking advantage of the inclusive drinks near closing time as well as minimising the length of the queue. We do appreciate your comments and will include them in our review. We have guests from many different countries and we do try to provide entertainment that will appeal to all nationalities and ages, as I am sure you understand this is not always easy and the situation of the hotel is such that there is a wider choice of entertainment within easy walking distance.Hersonissos Palace is a Greek hotel and the food sourced locally, our chefs are Greek so our food does tend to reflect our Balkan heritage but we always try to provide a wide choice of foods and the use of the buffet style allows our guests to sample portions of food they may not normally choose from a traditional style restaurant menu, and our course, if they like it, go back for more. The gym facilities are normally available and maybe there was a reason why they were not available when you went to visit. We always put all our efforts into our guests’ desires and requests and to provide memorable stay in the hotel .The compliments from our guests make us try harder for improving ourselves constantly.
