My husband & I (in our 30's) stayed for a week at Oasis Beach Hotel in Anissaras in May-June 2012 and it's the best place we've been to in Greece!
The family are genuinely interested in taking care of their guests, and making sure they enjoy and relax on their hols, nothing seemed too much trouble.
The rooms are fantastic, comfy beds, well equipped bathroom with power shower, & flat screen TVs with cable channels.
Great views too as there is not much else around other than farm/scrub land do you can relax on your balcony without looking straight onto another hotel! (TIP if you enjoy sitting on your balcony in the evening in the sun get a room facing the pool as the garden rooms are shaded in the evening).
Food here is excellent, breakfast is continental but the same each day, (would've been nice to have some other fruit than tinned peaches but I like them so not complaining!) BUT the evening meal never failed to disappoint, with authentic home cooked Greek specialities as well as other things like pasta and rice plus lots of variations of salad and desserts, there was something for everyone. It was some of the tastiest food I've eaten! They also do snacks during the day (which are payable).
Great, well stocked bar on site, expertly run by brothers Manos and Dimi, always aiming to please the customers, they are great!
The local area is a quiet village, its flat to walk around and it's only a 2 min walk down the road to the beach, which is sandy and very clean. The sea is very rocky but you can still walk out bare foot and swim. There are also the usual water sports on the beach.
There are only 3 bars/ tavernas in Anissaras which is fine for a week if you're half board but probably would have to go elsewhere if self catering! But a pleasant 10 min walk down the pedestrian path along the beach comes to Analipsi beach and bars/tavernas where there is a bit more choice.
TIP take the land train to Hersonissos port, it's only €10 for a 2 hr round trip but you can get off and walk around the port shops and restaurants and just get back on the train later. It's a lovely drive around some beautiful villages and then into the busier Hersonissos (the Port is a lovely area compared to the main strip!).
At the time we were there the area seemed to be most popular with German / Russian / Dutch people and a lot of bars & attractions are tailored to this audience but we didn't mind at all, it was really refreshing not to see all the english fry up / football shirt types that are usually in Greece!!
All in all a fantastic weeks holiday, we would definitely recommend and go back. This particular hotel is probably best suited to couples rather than families but there are lots of other hotels around set up with things to entertain the kids.
