I agree with the previous reports in that this is an exceptionally clean, friendly and well run resort. We had never stayed at serviced apartments before but having contacted a previous reviewer I was assured that there was no need to take towels, soaps etc. as they were all supplied .
if you are willing to make your own meals you can purchase th necessary foods from the in house shop (very reasonably priced) or into town on the free transfer coach , a 52 seater, where the bus stops close to a massive SPAR shop.
We personally liked the three villages between Village Heights and Hersonissos, they were Old Hersonisson, Peskapiano!, and one other- all were very nice with excellent restaurants. A cab cost about 8 or 10 euros back to village Heights or you can get the hotel bus to stop en route to Hersnissos and walk about 1 1/2 kilometres to Old Hersonissos and walk through to the other villages and if you are a good walker continue on the downhill walk to Hersonissos and get a cab back or the hotel coach. The other villages are Piskopiano and Koutoulofari, Koutoulofari being the best for restaurants especially the one who's name escapes me but where the staff (females) wear Roman togas, food was excellent as was the wine, which for 24 euros we had an xcellen bottle of red, I think it was a merlot, which was decanted at the table in an amazing way and we were then given a second bottle 'on the house' if you walk through the village from Piskopiano it is virtually the last restaurant on the right - it is a must.....

Room Tip: If you don't like a hard mattress ask for a topper which are readily supplied

This was the 2nd year in a row we holidayed here, fantastic place, very clean and the staff were lovely. There is a free bus into/return from the local shops which is great but does not run later in the evening so you may need to get a taxi back. Highly recommend this location, the setting in beautiful.

Room Tip: Most rooms are lovely but some are very low so shaded/dark by the lovely gardens

A lovely quiet resort which was exactly what Louise & myself were after arrived by hire car after reading previous reports & would agree this is a must due to location & excursion prices are quite expensive

On arrival Lou received a bunch of flowers & we were taken to our apparent by golf buggy to save carrying your bags
The apartment was a good size with full kitchen & was cleaned to a high standard everday the bottle of wine in the fridge was a nice bonus

We stayed on half board basis & have to say the food was superb at every meal

All the staff were very professional & polite they were so helpful wether planning a trip or local knowledge was needed

This resort is perfect for peace & quiet + younger children would not recommend for teenagers

A big thankyou to all the staff for making our stay so pleasant

We have just returned from Village Heights, after a really lovely holiday. As other reviews have said, the staff are marvellous, friendly and helpful, I would particularly commend Lisa, our rep. who couldn't have been kinder, including driving us all round the local villages etc.. The food in the restaurant, including the "Cretan " evening, was delicious and plentiful.
If we had one complaint, it would be the rather hard seating in our apartment! Very Greek, but our soft bodies found them a bit firm!
The weather was mostly very hot and sunny, though we had a couple of rainy mornings. All in all a great time and we would recommend this hotel.

Just returned from a stay in the Village Heights resort, and it was really nice, peaceful and relaxing! the resort has very high standards, very clean, the staff are very polite, friendly and professional.
The facilities on site are very good, with 3 pools to choose from, a Spa, mini golf, a shop which was very reasonable, 2 restaurants and many more..
The location is up on the mountain with spectacular views over the island looking out towards the ocean. The service of the free shuttle bus to the town was a BIG bonus as we did not have a hire car. The apartments/villas are to a great standard with all utensils wine glasses, microwave, pots and pans, dishwasher etc, and the maid service is very efficient.
The main restaurant offers different themed nights which was good as it was varied, we went to the Italian themed night where there was plenty on offer, we were told originally by the receptionist when we asked that we didn't have to book for this but when we turned up on the night the front of house staff were suprised that we hadn't booked but managed to find us a table straight away without any fuss, so if you don't want to avoid dissapointment I would recommend booking! and the morning continental breakfasts are a MUST! only at 10 euros you can fill up for the day! :) A very pleasant stay, Would definatly recommend this resort! :)

Excellent clean resort in the mountains overlooking Hersonissos. Staff very friendly and accommodating meeting all our requests promptly and efficiently. Very clean accommodation
Facilities very good and made for a very relaxing and enjoyable holiday.
Yes you do need a car to get around and see the island. Bus service will only take you to Hersonissos.Breakfast and Buffett meals excellent and good value for this type of resort. Drinks pricey but Crete is not cheap in current climate.
Activities provided for children and families very good. Special mention to Mattheu & team from Life they were good and very enthusiastic, great if you are going with children. Will definitely visit again and would recommend to any traveller, despite it being a little remote from the harbour/town For all the Internet complainers WiFi works as well!

Room Tip: Ask for frontline facing sea

We stayed 1 week in Village Heights in april. It was so quiet and lovely there. The big resort is in a pretty garden with a lot of flowers and 2 nice swimmingpools with plenty of seats. Everywhere, there was the smell of roses, jasmins and other flowers in the air. At one side, you have a view at the coast in the distance, at the other side, you look at the mountains with the tops covered with snow, and surrounded by a lot of green and wild springflowers. You hear the bells of the goats wandering outside the resort. We had the feeling to be in Switserland, instead of being in Crete. The hotel is 6 km from Hersonissos harbour and town, but with the free shuttle, it is possible to go your way without hiring a car. It is just a pity that the first shuttle leaves the hotel at 9h45, so that is a bit late when you want to make a trip with local busses for a whole day. But it is possible to take the shuttle and then the local bus to visit Heraklion (40 min.) and take there another bus farther to Knossos. We took the shuttle and the local bus to go to Agios Nicolaos too (50 min.). From Agios Nicolaos we took another bus to Plaka (30 min.) and then the boat to Spinalonga (10 min.). We wanted to visit Rethymnon and Ann, working for the hotel, was so kindly to give us a lift in her car to the busstop, at 8h00, so that we were able to catch an early bus to Heraklion (40 min.) and then a second one to Rethymnon (90 min.). If you like to walk to the tradional villages, the shuttle put you off at the road to Old Hersonissos, from where you can walk farther to Piscopiano and Koutouloufari and then to Hersonissos where you can take the shuttle back to the hotel. So you can do a lot. We even traveled from and to the airport of Heraklion, by using the local bus (25 min.) and the hotelshuttle (very cheap, just 2.5 euro per pers.for the bus). The shuttle stops close to the busstop and close to the Spar, so easy to buy what you need. Everybody in the hotel is very kindly and helpfull. We had a promotion week, but we were never pressed by anyone for buying a membership. Ann took care for us and even reconfirmed our flights. We stayed at the Greec evening and ate the buffetbreakfast in the hotel and both were very tasty and plentyfull. And now something about the 1 bedroom appartment. The appartment was big, with a good organised kitchen. We found a free bottle of wine and water in the refrigerator, when we arrived, and a little breakfast (breads, jam, coffee, milk, sugar and tea) too. This was a nice welcome. I am sorry that I have to tell some negative things now. When we arrived, the room was not OK (we arrived at about 19h30). They had still to bring another table and some missing walldecoration. And then it started. We wanted to look at the news on TV and the TV did not work. I wanted to call the reception for saying that our TV was not working, but the phone did not work. Then we wanted to take a shower, and the water was just cold. So we went to bed, but in the morning the water was still cold. By going to the reception, everything was fixed the same day. But it still happened that the water was not hot enough for taking a shower, especially in the morning. The first day in the appartment, I had already to kill 2 spiders, and a 3th one some days later. But what we found the worst thing, we had to kill 2 cockroaches too (one in the kitchen). So, the appartment itself gets only 3 on 5 from us. That is the reason that our endscore is 4 on 5. Whas it not for the appartment, it should have been 5 on 5. But we enjoyed our stay very much and want to thanks all the people of the resort, and especially Ann, for their kindly way they took care for us.

Room Tip: Ask for a room close to the reception.
