Visit and pray to the Lord. You will find many monastries in and around Sikkim, these are places of worship and one must not skip them whenever you see them around. A large play ground is visible on the top of the hill and its a place worth visiting.

Alas, I did none of the things the reviewers here have mentioned, but I might try it in my next trip. We merely decided to take a look at the recommendation of our driver, and we liked the monastery. We went unprepared and were pleased at what we found. I wish the monastery the best. It is neat and clean, like all the people of Kalimpong.

The monastery and grounds are not much to look at on the exterior, but that all changes once you get inside the main chanting hall. The designs and colors are brilliant, from the banners and prayer flags to the mandalas on the ceiling. This is all the more so because the monastery is relatively modern, lacking the centuries of smoke, grime and damage typical of the older monasteries. Try to schedule your visit for a prayer session or ceremony, and the sounds and atmosphere are wonderful. This monastery, unlike many, welcomes photography.

Did'nt like much..the monastery looked just another concrete structure on the highway with few mobile telephone towers aound, spoiling the sanctity.

Now, I must tell you that most monasteries are similar. What's unique about this one is the absolute peace and quite around it. Young lamas will be enthusiastic to show you around if you show inquisitiveness. It's a nice drive uphill from the market past the Kalimpong Park Hotel. Worth doing when you are in Kalimpong. Don't rush in and out of it...you will wonder why you ever came!
