“Beware”
Review of Alarnatha Temple

Reviewed June 18, 2014

Keep change of 10's and 50's. The people there are very arrogant if you don't offer any donations, they even scold you...

There is a Belief that There is an underground tunnel which connects the Lord Jagannath Temple and Alarnath Temple through which The Lord Connects .Its a must Visit Place in Puri. The road to the temple is besides the main temple nearly 2-3 km.

Local says in a year 15 days Lord Jagannath suffers in fever and does not give public appearance. During this period Alarnatha is second Vishnu deity who is visited bu locals. Alarnatha hence is equally important pilgrimage in Puri

God has so many mystrious systems designed, sometimes I get confused/mesmerized. Here lord Jagannath accepts the puja/archana/prasadam during the 15 days he falls ill with fever during Asadha maasa at Puri temple. This is to facilitate his devotees to get his darshan in the avatar of SriVishnu.

This temple is 25 km away from Puri on the way to 'Satapada' Dolphin watch. Please try the special 'rice kheer' offered as prasadam here, available during mid-day lunch time.
