We selected Puri Hotel for its biggest plus point - location. It's bang on the beach. It's really close to the station, & 3 km from the Main Temple.
Stay was pleasant. The room tended to get dirty a lot - but it's mainly due to our repeatedly going in the sand & walking about the room in wet slippers.
2-bed room is comfortable. 3-bed room is the exactly same size, & becomes very cramped with the 3 boarders & their suitcases.
They have a strange rule of cleaning the rooms when you are present - obviously they're fed up with theft blames - even more scope for dirtying of the wet floor!
Room service is a bit slow, but the staff is quite friendly.
Caution - they themselves look at themselves as "family hotel". They'll get hostile if you try to party noisily or tell them to get you cold drinks from outside.
What I really did not like was that the handle locks were broken. Not nice. not even for a budget hotel. I had to latch up at the top all the time, or else my 16 month old will just pull the handle and run out!
