I had a trip to puri from 11th to 15th October. There was a cyclone alert but whenever we contacted the Manager at Puri he assured that nothing is a problem now and we can venture there without any problem. But on reaching there we were caught in the cyclone and the hotel staff were not prepared for any eventuality. The glasses of the hotel were of poor quality and cracked when the sea breeze rose to a higher level. Further, the rooms were not equipped to bear such and it showed that they were made without understanding the basic premise of having a hotel near the sea coast. I strongly recommend that people should avoid this hotel. The tariff is too high and does not deserve to give a second chance. It has poor facilities. The front office guys are inhospitable and they have no care for the boarders as they do not care to even drop them to a nearest hotel at the time of catastrophe. I hope people do not get swayed by the glitz and glamour shown in the website as the hotel do not have proper facilities like good toilet, breakfast is limited as it is embedded with the package, the housekeeping people walking bare bodied at the reception. It is not value for money at alll.

I recently stayed at this place with family. We had booked two non AC rooms. Figured out that there is no generator support for AC so it is better if you book non AC sea facing rooms.

The rooms are big and have a good balcony. The only backdrop of this place is that bathroom is tooooo small. You will literally touch the WC while bathing :(

Management, waiters and rest of the folks are helpful and nice. Food prices are bit steep when compared to other bigger and better places (near swargadwar). Also, they will make you order lunch at the time of breakfast and dinner in evening itself.

No. of chairs are very less which are provided in the beach...you would need to ask security guy to get it repeatedly. Fresh towels and soap was provided everyday and room cleaning was also done.

They have a swing for kids which is good considering other budget properties do not have it. From hotel to swargadwar it will take 80 bucks.
Buffet breakfast just has cornflakes and one indian dish, so pls do not expect anything more ;)

Room Tip: Take 1st floor rooms

I would start right away with points not story -
1 - You cannot drink the hotel provided water is worst than sea water. You have to buy packaged water. The hotel charges exorbitant rates for the same.
2 - The water coming out of the wash basin tastes is so bad you will have a shock of you life. It is better to walk across the road to the sea and do you morning brush in the sea.(I am opposed to polluting the sea).
3 - When u flush the loo the smell that come out is worst than the open drains in Kolkata.
4 - When we came in to the room so called clean the soap used by the last guest was there.
5 - You will have to run after them to get the bed sheet / towel changes. In a room meant for 4 people (210) you get 2 towels.
6 - Food though tasty doubt the quality as all in my family felt sick including myself though i can vouch i have a good immunity system. I can understand we have to order you lunch at breakfast and Dinner at lunch. So be sure you plan early as you have no option to change.
7 - Good if you like calmness as it is still on the part of Puri that is not developed. Be sure to shell out extra bucks if you are to go to the market or temple or the railway station. The airport will not make much of a difference :).
Will keep posting or updating

i booked a suite (the costliest) what i got was a side sea view from balcony....but two drains were more prominantely visible and stinking.they dont provide sea view for suites ..if you book a cheap room you will get sea view...ridiculous.each trip to temple will cost you 200 rupees.they provide only one cup tea kit.water is salty.you have to purchase mineral water for drinking.they offer complimentary breakfast ,but that consists of only puri, sabzi, omlette, cornflakes.no fruit juice or fresh fruit,no south indian dish.and the check out time is 7 am .they start reminding you to leave the room at 6 am horrible

Room Tip: the hotel has no lift ,if you have enough strength then 3rd floor is fine

We stayed here for 3 nights in early June 2013 and in a room that was sea facing (room no 306). The room was okay in size and had a balcony too opening right to the magnificent sea -- one can hear the waves crashing while even in the room. The early morning sight of the fishermen bringing in their catch and the day long peace and tranquility is worth the stay away from the maddening crowd here. However the toilets are very small, the water is too salty and the generators are not connected to the AC (in fact the first day i was asked to move to the next door Coco Hans resort if I wanted ac connection through generator).
The food was tasty and homely -- however the idea of having to order your lunch during the breakfast and dinner during lunch hours was irritating.
The best part is the proximity to the beach which at most is empty save a few of the hotel guests.
The worst part is the distance from the main hubs and the unrealistic demands of the auto people -- the hotel should seriously look into the matter and ensure passengers are not fleeced at every trip.

This was our second stay at the hotel. But the service has deteriorated to the extreme condition. The charges are premium but the service doesnt is hopelessly poor.
The drinking water is salty. Many guests fell sick. They only provide 1ltr mineral water bottle and wash their hands-off. You either buy 1ltr bottles or get your own water from outside!
Running water is erratic. The tap went dry a couple of times during the noon bathing hours! People had to stay put in their bathrooms with soap on their body. I myself had to suffer for around 20 min!
The electricity connection is very erratic. 2-3hrs during the day, the electricity connection used to be out. But the generators are only connected with the lights and fans. And one had to suffer due to the sticky weather. With the charge per rooms the hotel must atleast provide a generator connection to the air-conditioners.
The management had excuses ready for anything that went wrong.
The phones in the rooms didnt work properly.
Even the room-cleaner maid would shout at you if you requested to clean-up the room!
Room service were bad.
Food was pathetic and served cold.
