“Beautiful and Tranquil”
Review of Elephant Falls

Elephant Falls were named after the now non-existent elephant shaped hills where the falls are located. The local name for the Falls was something else in Khasi, but it meant the falls which fall thrice. The beauty of the falls are that they don't tire you. I have been to other falls, and the sheer height from which you have to descend and then ascend up the stairs can be taxing, but not with elephant falls. They have also been maintained, I think majorly by the Armed forces. If you are a shopaholic, you can buy local merchandise from the local shops outside the falls as well.

Elephant fals is one the very good sight seeings of shillong which tourists should not avoid to visit. There are three water falls here one at the top level and second one at middle level and third fall is at the third and bottom level. We can enjoy the nature from this place which otherwise we can not enjoy without visiting this place.Although we are seniour citizens yet we went from top level to the bottom level to enjoy the nature.

The trek down the unevenly spaced steps will sure tear the cartilege on your knees :) But, the pleasant waterfall will cheer you up. Do yourself a favor..sip some water from that fresh spring and you'll know why it's well worth your time hanging out here!

The setting in which these falls (yes there are 3 waterfalls) takes you back to the Amazon jungles. Its green, tree covered and pristine. The waterfall itself is huge and the water is clear. Its a must see :)

A quick visit before the tourist hordes got in and was rewarded by the quiet scene across the falls, the friendly company of dogs, and some rewarding birdwatching. Good signage
